That is one good looking car. Do you do a lot of classic cars in 3d?

That's marvelous! Thanks so much! Now that I know how to make a car shiney, I keep my eye open for great looking cars. Now if I could only find a 1960 Pontiac Parisien and a 1949 Hudson.

Just downloaded it and it's fantastic. Looks good, loads fast, and is easy on the system. One little problem. You'll need to do one of 2 things....either edit the cr2 file to look for 51Pontiac.obj or rename the obj file to 51Pontiacs.obj. Awesome looking car.

My dad owned a 1951 Pontiac when I was a young boy. It is the first car that I remember. Then we had a '56, '60, '61, '65, '66, '72, '76, '79 and that was the year he passed away. My mother and I have had many more Pontiacs since then. My first car was a 1968 Pontiac Lemans Sprint. Oops. Sorry! I didn't mean to get carried away. Thank you so much for the great car! Giving such a fine gift is very generous of you!

Hip, daddy-o! (Is that too late for 1951?)

Thanks. A fine companion for Dudley's 57 Chevy. I'd like to see a classic Studebaker, Ford Fairlane, etc.

I don't know enough of how Ford might have made different vehicles in the USA and the UK, but a British Ford c. 1938 would have had a very long life, either used through the war, or kept off the road and revived post-war. I wonder if similar things happened in the USA. Just a thought on choice of model-year.

cedarwolf ( ) posted Thu, 10 November 2005 at 8:47 AM

Anyone know where to find aforementioned Dudley's 57 Chevy these days? If my poor memory serves me, it was a freebie at one time...

Just downloaded this, looking forward to doing a pic with it! Thanx!

I think once the war started, all Detroit's production went to armaments--probably not until '41 though. Of course, they probably still have many of that vintage or not much newer still running in Cuba from what I've seen. This site has some nice models, including a selection of European emergency vehicles--in Lightwave format which you can convert to .obj with PoseRay. PoseRay preview of Beetle Polizei. Not sure about Dudley. I think he was selling here in the MP at one time.

Thank you Shurby!! That's a beautiful hunk of "Detroit Steel". Available models of cars of that era seem to be exremely rare on the web, especially free ones! Looks very true to the real one IMO.

@cedarwolf- Theres a pretty good looking 57 Chevy Bel Aire Convertible avalable free from Avalon 3D Archive.

Actually I had considered doing a Studebaker, I personally hated those double clutching tanks. My dad had a old one that he would let my brother and I take to town, till I bought that old straight 8 Pontiac. I had only ref pictures from the net including an interior shot and what I could remember of the dash. If I can find some decent shots of the old stud maybe I'll giver a go.
