Subject: Vue Infinite crashes

trevorhp ( ) posted Thu, 10 November 2005 at 12:59 PM · edited Tue, 07 January 2025 at 11:58 PM

Hi, Strange one this, I have Vue Infinite, I open it up and it works fine, even renders ok. then I close the program down and it closes fine. Then when i decide to turn off my PC even if its hours after using Vue, I get an error message stating Vue not responding etc. Has anyone else had this problem? It started after the latest update download from E-ON. Also now everytime I open up Vue, I get Norton telling me the Vue is trying to access the network via DNS, I click allow. This didn't happen before the update either. Could be connected. Interested whether anyone else is experiencing these problems. Thank in advance.

Haven't had that problem. As you say strange...but then again vue is not actually crashing, is it?

After you close Vue, check in the task manager to see if there is process called Vue still running - if so close it from there, just to see if you get the not responding message.

Also, you can stop Vue from trying to connect to the net in 'FileOptions' which I suspect may be the cause of the problem - a connection to the net called vue, rather than Vue Infinite.

What's the number of the update you are using? The latest full version is 5.08 - Build 278365, which as far as I know, disabled the intended integration with Cornucopia.

Hmmm, trevor...you really should post this to tech support. It also gives us fellow users more chance to help if you list you Vue build, hardware stats (RAM size, CPU type) and OS version and even graphics card and driver version. If nothing else, at least if another user has the same problem and you can see similarities between your hardware/software setup you can then point tech support into looking to see if that is the cause of the problem. Cheers

Hi thank you for your replies. My version is 5.08 - Build 278365. My setup is a laptop with 1.50 GB of RAM, Pentium 4 CPU 3.60 GHz, 2x 100 GB Hard drives, Win XP Service pk 2 professional. Display is NVIDIA GeForce Go 6800. Its a custom professionally built laptop. Had no problems until recently. I've looked in Options and restored to default settings in case I have done something without knowing. Also disabled Check for content and news/tutorials. Will see if that chenges anything. I had looked in the task manager and Vue isn't visible once its closed. Hope the above helps and I will post this with E-On. Thanks once again for your help.

No problem. Let us know how you get on, it would be interesting to see if this is a repeatable error.

Hmmm... I used to get this problem with Vue 4.1. I never let Vue access the internet, and Vue would leave some module in memory related to the internet access. The problem happened on a regular basis. It could have been a conflict with ZoneAlarms. I brought it to Tech Support's attention, and they'd never heard of the problem before, and I dropped the issue.

I've reinstalled Vue and opted for it not to access the internet which it seems to still do according to Norton. After the reinstall i updated to the latest build. Opened up Vue and loaded a scene and then closed the program. Then closed the PC down and got the same 'Vue not responding' messages again. I've now posted the problem with E-ON Tech support. Once I find out whats been happening I'll let you know. Thanks again.
