Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 25 4:22 pm)
I would guess tou would have to render the animation as a series of stills (Poser allows that) in a format that supports alpa channels, like TIF, then use something like Adobe Premier to put them togeather. But it might be easier to just have a blue or green background (you want it as far from the colors you use as possable) and use something like Premier's hue overlay (I forget what it is called, but I've done it) to make it transparent.
Yes you can use blue or green background as use the transparency in Premiere. (After FX is a lot better) but I tend to do as Jim Burton suggests and create a stills image sequence in PSD or Tif format. Save them in a new folder and you can import the whole folder into Premiere in one go and the stills will load all in one go. If you need anymore info Email me Bebop
Thanks for the replies. Using either of these methods (still pictures or Animation-Millions+) what part in the Poser scene gets classified as the alpha channel? I assume the background would, as in anything that changes color when you select Background Color, but how about the ground plane? I know testing it for myself is the way to go but until I get a few minutes I was hoping someone could share their experience. Thanks

I would like to export a Poser animation with an alpha channel. On page 241 of the manual (page 251 of the PDF manual) it says: In addition, you can render your animation with an alpha channel. This lets you overlay your Poser animation in a video compositing application. Refer to "Rendering an Animation" on page 264 for more on rendering. And there is no more mention of an alpha channel on page 264 or anywhere else in the manual. Was that paragraph an error? I know I can achieve similar results with a blue or green background but did they really leave out alpha channel support?
