Attached Link: Planetary Gun Animation (wmv file - 482kb)

The linked animation (wmv file) shows the Planetary Gun in operation - the dome doors open, the gun rises, azimuth and altitude are adjusted, the barrels extend and hey presto! the gun is on-line.

What's BFGs ????

Dave-So BFG = Big Fancy Gun. :o)

Good to see that this is ready to be deployed on the surface of Dystopia, Ajax! :o) I know that it's been a long time coming, but ever since folks have purchased those various spaceships this city has seemed pretty weak and defenseless. At least now with the Planetary Defense Guns and the Fortifications, there's a bit more safety. :o)

I don't have any use for these, but they sure are neat.

Thank you... :o)

Personally, I use these city blocks for my animations. Here's a frame (Frame 125) from a scene that currently has several hundred blocks with a few Planetary Gun emplacements deploying for action.

I'm not entirely sure I know why, but these are fun to animate. :o) Ajax Very cool animation! Love the scale and the distance blurring. The flaming sky is reminiscent of those vintage pulp comics. Retro-style... and I like the gun-slinging over the top action... kinda like a cowboy clearing his holster in a fancy way. In what application did you create that anim?

That thar's a Poser animation, Moe! Poser 6, to be precise. The sky is an animated procedural background. I really love messing with animated shaders in Poser. Great fun. It was one of the big breakthroughs of version 5. Now I look at the anim again, I think I should have spent more than 30 seconds on setting up the gun animation - it's a bit jerky in places. You're right though, the moment you start playing with that gun, you just want to animate it. I couldn't resist the urge. Neither could Billy and I think Stonemason is doing one too. The soundtrack is by Donnie Christianson (AKA Silver).
