Lake Placid is known as the "Town of Murals" and for good reason. There are about 37 murals throughout the town, possibily the most in any small town. Here is a taste of them starting with the largest, which I broke into two parts for easier viewing -- and because I can't make a real pano to save my life.

Here are 3 of the great wildlife murals. You never know where you will find them. :)

And some more. A neat feature of some of the murals is they have motion detectors and sounds activate when a viewer draws near, like with the train one on the bottom.

This shows a mural in progress. This one was neat because it wraps around 2 sides of the building.

Here is a detail of one that surrounds a small park area, and shows a historic timeline of the area.

This one is downtown and by the now more modern drug store, showing how it used to look.

And finally, some photo taken by my friend Ingrid, with me on the quest for the perfect mural photo. These last ones were taken earlier in the year. Note the Olympus C5050 I am using, just hours before it took a dip in a nearby canal. :[

OH MY GOD!!! These are incredible!!!! What a bundle of beautiful murals!!! FANTASTIC ARTWORK!!!! We have one in our town...lol...ONE! And its not even half as good as any of these...probably covered with grafiti by now...sigh. Anyway...so you have a friend named Ingrid...scandinavian heritage? Nice to you see you by the way. You look like a birdwatcher with his binoculars following those birds flying on the wall. #:o)

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

...birdwatcher, lol. Thanks Andreas. Yeah, they are pretty cool paintings. My photos don't do them justice. My friend Ingrid is German, she was visiting on her holiday.

Fascinating - thanks for showing these Kort :)

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

Wonderful series Mr.D.I think you did a fine job capturing them. I'm surprised you haven't provided a link while you were at it,lol. Been meaning to ask you something.Is that your writing on your recent uploads or is it something you are paraphrasing that you've read elsewhere?Just curious. Have a great evening MFF. ;^)

Attached Link: Lake Placid

Oops, heres the link. I didn't include it because the most of the mural links they have are broken. As for my recent uploads, the quotes are from the said sources, but the rest is just a story I came up with to go along with the surreal imagery. Hopefully it added to, rather than detracted from the photos. U 2 MFF! =]
