Wow. I have not been around here for a few weeks, but looked in to get a few answers.....and THIS FORUM ROCKS. I am moving from topic to topic, back, new pages, clicking on links to old threads....and it is snappy as anything. The old click-and-wait-and-pray-it-is-worth-it game is over. New server? Whatever....THANKS RENDO! ::::: Opera :::::

Don't speak too soon...just 12hrs ago I gave up waiting for forums to load. Maybe you was just lucky ;) Cheers

opera - yeah, it does seem pretty fast for the moment. But like Cheers, just 12 hours ago it was very slow. The forums have been regularly timing out on me (broadband) in recent weeks. Stay tuned! Link

How come You're doing so well? I seem to have problems galore here with R'osity. I have no idea why. I very often can't change pages or go back to a previous page.Sometimes I can't even reach the forums. The search function hardly ever works right in the forums, and I very often have to log in when I've been a member for several years.

These problems seem to only be with R'osity, no one else. I'm really getting frustrated. I just recently switched to broadband, too, so it can't be my connections.I've been complaining about this a lot lately. I just don't get it! Why R'osity only? HELP ME R'OSITY, PLEASE... I'm getting desperate!

I'm using Firefox here & rosity does seem to be loading almost as fast as most of the other sites I go to.

I have 3.0 cable modem download, but I am speaking relatively....even with that speedy connection, Rendo has been very pokey always. Seems real fast to me, even in marketplace, etc. ::::: Opera :::::

Opera, care to share what you've been smoking? LOL This whole site is disgustingly slow. I'm on DSL and most times I can't even download the thumbnails in the gallery or the thumbnails when I do a market search. Some show up and many others don't, and it's not because they aren't there. I go to a site like Poser Pros and can view what seems like a hundred or more thumbnails, and here if I get 1/2 of them to open I'm doing well.

It's running pretty fast for me right now too. It never seems to last though. It's nice when it does work, there is so much here that the speed allows you to actually get to, but it is almost inevitable that once you say "Wow, they fixed it!" it will suddenly crawl trying to reach a single post thread...

MachineClaw ( ) posted Wed, 16 November 2005 at 9:21 AM

Archive now asks which year and month to search for. Probably sped up searches and lag times. Unfortunatly I can not get Archive to work for me and cannot read old threads. And I don't notice a speed difference at work or at home. sometimes fast sometimes snail pace.

diolma ( ) posted Wed, 16 November 2005 at 4:22 PM

I get similar differences in speed as mentioned above. Am on Cable Modem. Sometimes thing load in quickly; other times they can take several minutes. There seems to be no pattern. What I SUSPECT is, that it's due to caching at both 'Rosity and at my cable-providers servers. But that's just a suspicion, I have no proof, either way.. "FAST" = "Full Ahead...STop!!!" Cheers, Diolma

Worked very fast for me this morning but when I got home from work, when I tried go load Rosity, it wouldn't so I went elsewhere. When I finally came back, it loaded but took awhile. Seems to me that Rosity's destiny is to be slow, link's to other pages won't work or are very slow, searches either don't work or takes forever to load, etc. Last night I couldn't do a search. I was looking for threads about water. After 15 minutes of sitting on the search screen with no results, I gave up and checked the other sites. I'm afraid to even try a search now. For Rosity to be fast, they would have to rip out everything and start all over, but then I wouldn't guarantee it to be fast. When Rosity does seem to be working faster, don't say anything about it right away, it probably won't last. Wait a few days or maybe even a couple hours, the speed will slow down again as it always does.

I also suspect 'rosity to be a victim of it's own success.

Usually, when I log on, there are in excess of 2,000 surfers. Occasionally I've seen greater than 3,000.

And the database has to be able to keep track of all of them....

So, in general, I put up with the delays. It's the nature of the beast.

BTW: If you post and then get no reply for a while, copy your post to the clip-board; hit "stop"; hit "back"; then hit "re-load".

If your post shows up, it went through..:-)

If it doesn't then re-enter the thread and re-post. That way you avoid those rather annoying multiple posts...

(Not sure what the equivalents are on a Mac, or on other PC browsers, but I'm sure you get my drift..)

Cheers,
Diolma

Well, that must be a definition of "fast" that I haven't previously encountered. :D Tonight it seems to be staggering from "glacial" to "painfully slow" and back again.

7:28 PM here in Pasadena, CA on Charter Communications cable modem at 3.0 Mb download...

Renderosity still lickety split, I just surfed around about 20 pages in gallery, marketplace, forum, product page 2,3 etc.

No page took more than 3 seconds to appear.

just now went back and did about 15 searches in forum, marketplace and freestuff for various popular terms like boots, comb, braid, dress, etc. Searches taking 2-5 seconds to display results. og

Every once in a while a page will load in under 10 seconds, the rest of the time it's like watching Zr-96 decay. That's with a with a 5 mbps connection too. Bakersfield on RR. I'm beginning to wonder if there's a routing problem.

Yesterday it was fast, today it's slow. Up and down, up and down, it's just not funny anymore.

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....
