Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
I've had P6 ask me if I wanted to load libraries. But it's a process that's never taken very long to do. Just a few seconds, usually. And I've got a couple of huge runtimes, as well as several smaller ones.
Uh? That's new to me? I've never had Poser telling me it wanted to load a library. Only weird thing I've encountered so far with SP2 (and I'm not 100% it was Poser's fault) was earlier tonight when I suddenly got a "out of virtual memory" message from windows. The thing is, I wasn't USING Poser. It had finished a render and was just sitting, open, in the background. BUT I also had (also inactive coz I was reading here on Rostiy) Photoshop CS2 open. And those two programs together makes memory leak like water from a dutch dyke. Just without the little boy to put his thumb in the hole... I've noticed a lot of minor, but nice improvements.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
I've got 16 runtimes. I'm glad it hasn't asked me yet ;-) "Photoshop CS2 open. And those two programs together makes memory leak like water from a dutch dyke" I noticed CS2 eats memory. Imagine what it's like if I have those 2 open plus PSP and I want to use Vue!!! All the thumbs inthe world couldn't stop that leak O.O

dIke Trekkie, dIke--at least in US English. The 'Y' makes all then difference, bringing visions of carpet cleaning lesbian bars needing licker licenses, etc. Leaking water indeed--hmmm, where did I put that German "art" film?

heh see what a little typo/misconception can lead to? Oh well, at least we had fun, didnt we? ;o) Isn't it at least PRONOUNCED the same?

Yes, pronounced the same. Apparently the Brits use the Y spelling for earthen dams? After all, they call cigarettes fags so it all gets very confusing. I can imagine some British bloke asking an American girl if you can 'knock her up.' Other definitions: "A wet drainage ditch. The cow got stuck in a dyke." "dyke: a sheet of igneous rock, emplaced in molten state, which cuts across bedding in a sedimentary sequence."

"Meanwhile, as soon as Chaucer was safely buried, the English changed all their vowels. This had unfortunate consequences when the French Dolphin turned up, looking for a tennis partner, and young King Harry played a set the like of which was not seen again until John McEnroe (now pronounced Fluellen) played at Agincourt (pronounced Wimbledon)." As for the suggestion of moving my P4 runtime. Not really an option, not that I feel I should have to move an entire drives contents just to get somthing which wasnt broken before to work now!
The long and short of it, is when poser now fires up, linked in to my p4 figures folder, and i want to now change from this library to say my ADP figure folder. This is the pop up I get, no other folders are visible. So i have to click 'Build Folder' which is answered by poser with This may take a while, and then goes off churning through the drive, returning around 5 minutes later with the figure folder now as it should be.
My patience with poser in general now to even get a simple item done is fast becoming frayed, and I cannot belive I was fool enough to get burned twice now. first with P5, an now this.
For those that the SR2 patch has worked for. I am glad, but I am far from happy.
Until I installed SR2, I had never seen this either.
Setup is as follows.
Main machine (Oldish by many standards now).
AMD1.3
1 gig memory
Motherboard unknow, has 16meg onboard graphics card.
WinXP running usual auto updates. No fire wall, as my router takes care of that.
WinXp is on C drive, P6 installed on another disk (E drive)
Runtime linked to a USB 30gig hard drive which has poser 4, and the entire runtime I usually use. This drive I take with me when I am on the road, and use with my Laptop.
Overall, apart from an antique processor, the spec has never caused me any issues before.
Thanks for your help. I think I will try and reinstall P6, and maybe use the time to also move the runtime across.

Ok. Bit the bullet, and installed SR2.
was kinda happy.
but what is with this!!!
every time i launch Poser now. it says. Ok your in 'Such and such directory'
Ok no problem with that, as most of the time I have p6 using my P4 library as that is my main content
P5 just went and did it. P6 now says. i will now load the library. this may take a while, and then goes of and reloads what was there before??? WHAT
Worse still. its happening now when I am changing from Props to say Character within an already loaded P4 library...
this is so annoying! Now randomly when changing from say a prop to a pose directory, it shows me a blank directory and asks if i wish to reload it, and it may take a while to do. So i have to say yes, and go make a cup of coffee...... really annoying after it does it several times in one setup for a render!
Has any one else had this?
