Subject: Texture size limitation?

stew451 ( ) posted Tue, 22 November 2005 at 4:12 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 5:28 PM

I have Vue5 and was wondering is there a texture size limit when you import objects? I ask because I'm having some problems when I try to import figures exported from Daz Studio. It doesn't happen all the time and I'm trying to isolate what might be causing it. Oh yeah the problem comes in two fold. 1) The textures don't map correctly to the figure, no matter what mapping option I pick. 2) Vue crashes immediately upon finishing importing. Any advice or info would be appreciated. Stew

Reduce texture size.I have had the same problem with Infinite and some select objects.I have never used DAZ Studio, but i do know Vue has issues with very large texture maps.I have reduced them in Poser before export and have had no problems. As for your faulty mapping,i think that maybe that is a DS problem, could be wrong but i have never had it happen to me.Vue is pretty damn smart with texture mapping i think.Good luck.

Well, I have also noticed that DAZ|Studio exports have MAJOR problems with Vue - 4 out of 5 times I try, it crashes for one reason or another. Didn't think it was the textures, though... interesting, I'll try that, Samhain74...

I am not guaranteing you it is the textures, but it is likely the cause.but it could be DS.Isnt that prog beta still? Does Vue even support it? Or does it use standard .obj .3ds export formats?

Thanks Samhain74. I gave it a try but it still crashes. I now beleive it is down to the way D|S export .objs. There was a thread over at Daz about how D|S doesn't export in the standard way(however that is), but it was also said that future release would have an improved exporting system. So until then it's hit or miss:( Again thanks. Stew

@stew451-This is a problem with Poser 6 as well. You export your V3,M3 ect as an .obj file and 99% of the time half there head is missing:P It is a mess really.Vue said it is Posers problem, but if it happens with DS as well maybe it really is a Vue problem with the unimesh characters? i dont know alot about modeling and polygons and UV maps and such,so maybe i am wrong.Just seems a bit odd to me.
