How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when
isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is
supposed to be fire and brimstone?

Sure Cindy. As fertiliser I'm in total agreement.I once saw the most breath-taking patch of delphinium growing right on top of a pile of the stuff...BUT... " 7. Smoke producer - smoldering cow patties keep away mosquitoes. Can also make smoked paneer over such smoke. Tastes great in pasta! " Gasp!Even mosquitos have the sense to avoid it.But COOKING OVER IT????Man!!! I thought that 'use' was pretty bad until I saw number 14!!!! " 14. Tooth polish " Ummmmm....I figured I should stop reading right about there, lol. No way I'm going to understand THAT one!!!! 8^/

Marlene...You eat Oysters. They live at the bottom of a sea filled with raw sewage.Crabs eat whatever is the most foul smelling waste that sinks to the bottom. Cows eat alpha alpha..grasses and grains.Thats all that comes out. Pass the salt please!!!!!

I have fond memories of viewing Yellow Submarine while in an altered state during my college days. I can just imagine the banter of the fab 4 as they spiral down a flushing toilet. Thanks cyn! ;]

ok... actually i was curious as to the response this would bring.. not only posting something that is literally crap & a play on words or even still, be any good cuz i can't help but make the most of something, but just to get it out of system & get back to posting in the gallery in the right frame of mind lately i have felt like it really wouldn't matter what i posted & when you do see something "crappy" that's a big "WOW! that's the best ever seen! vote!" ...it becomes a bit disheartening to others.. there is a difference between giving positive encouragement, which i'm all for & obviously do a lot & just total BS.. like some sort of game show.. but then there's no accounting for personal tastes & really it's none of you who are doing it & i am definitely not saying any of you post crap! far from it! :] but i guess you know what i'm trying to say? :/ don't have the answer, but i know i should just do my own thang & not worry about it.. you'd think i wouldn't have anything to complain about ..lol ...sigh there i go speaking in riddles again :P expressing myself with words is much harder then through photos or art all we can do is be true to oneself, learn, share & have fun doing it :o)))
I find it quite liberating at times just posting without allowing comments actually. Just as a reminder that it shouldnt matter all that much, and that i shouldnt read too much into them. I see the comments i get more as an encouragement than a receipt that i did something good. Except when someone i truly admire says something nice about them. You make perfect sense to me....and i would be happy to be the first to tell you that this picture of yours is nothing....nothing BUT crap, LOL. I never liked the look of cowpies...but i cant help but love the smell of them. la la la...

I think many here will know how you feel/felt. I've nothing more to say than that ! and I know you wanted to make the most of the image but I think wrapping the cow poo in aluminium foil was going too far !!!!!! :D

I'm sympathetic to your disappointment with certain aspects of RR.Yes,there are those who do say such things...But in all honesty, are those comments from individuals with opinions you even remotely care about?I would think not.I know I don't.I have posted to receive comments from those whose work I admire OR those whose viewpoints give me perspective and/or a sense of community.Because I DO welcome comments even from those whose work may be less than perfect. There are those who struggle as I do,and while they may not be in the 'upper echelon' of photog's here at RR I still value their encouragement as I'm sure they do mine. However, none of these people are of the "That's amazing...Vote" ilk...I won't say it doesn't feel good to get alot of comments,it does. But I would rather have the comments of those select individuals than have multitudes of meaningless ones. What is the answer then?It is simply never to solicit the receipt of comments with either excessive or indiscriminate commenting. That's all it is.By doing so one intentionally (or not) encourages the reciprocal effect that leads eventually to the empty comments that are being discussed here. These people are only commenting to get comments in return. They play the numbers game.As if 'numbers' ever equaled quality, which all of us know is not the case. That said, there are those at RR whose work I always commented on,(even when they did not comment on mine),because I admired it,and always hoped that they would one day deem my work equally worthy of their time.Is that expecting reciprocity?Yes.But as a level of achievement. And I think that's different,at least I hope it is...

One day I may be able to say this right. This is a website. A virtual place where someone once thought that "Wouldn't it be nice to create a website where people can have fun...show off things they do and goof around all for free." So after making it happen the world catches on.It is real boring having just a website where you display works and only get to check how many people have taken a look by a counter only. We all like to be seen here. We all, in some ways wish to have an image in the Hot20. I bet that no one can honestly say that it hasn't been a pleasure. From the amount of members I have talked to here that is a fact. Some of the members choose to be part of the Market place to make a few dollars. Others pay to upload 3 images. Then there are those who use it as a place to meet people and share creativity. What more can you ask for when it is free. Our photography section is almost like a family for some. Many of us have really good times goofing around here. How come it gets so tense then? A lot of members get much excitement out of seeing images from different places and through the eyes of people around the world and want to express it. I will never stop people from being nice. No I don't like saying VOTE when I comment, but if I really enjoyed the image I will press the button in silence, because the funtion is there and it made me feel good doing it. So come on everyone...remember...it is only a website and if by some chance there was a huge power failure, it would just go off. That's it. Each and every one of you who I see around here have put a smile on my face at one point, and I kind of cherish that.So taking all this other stuff too seriously is just a wasted emotion. I am sure most have read the book, Don't sweat the small stuff. It's all small stuff. ----------------------- Now on a lighter note...I heard somewhere that the greenhouse effect is getting worse by methane gas from cow manure.Geeez we are having an election coming up here in Canada....get out the sunscreen.

absence but in the mastery of his passions."
Hear Hear! Wow Marlene....do you have a way with words or what? And Doug....do you have a way with words or what? And....Andreas you dont have a way with words do you? LOL. Youre all making such valid points, that im not even gonna try to add something. Im here to have fun, and fun is what im having. Is that another poop-photo Cindy? Judging from its dryness id say its a horse....or a constipated cow. Hmmm....wish it was in high-res so that one could analyze it more.

AW.I don't have any silly gifs or smiley's but I couldn't agree more.I have so much fun here! Doug,I think what you said is probably the most important perspective of all...It's always good to be reminded of what the bottom line is,and you did just that...in a very straightforward and clearcut way I might add. :^) Thanks Andreas. You shouldn't knock yourself. You always express yourself very well...and lets not forget you do it in a language that is not even your native tongue!!!So kudos to you as well. K.I'm done.LOL. :^)
