Subject: To Admin: Copyright Violation

Lalverson's post "Stone texture for Sharkey's Amazon Palace" incorporates a texture used in one of my commercial props. This is a clear copyright infringement, and I ask that you delete the post immediately. Thank you. --Dendras

Where is it Dendras? Could you post the URL please?

Free stuff....I looked, but it's rather fuzzy.

I don't know Dendras, and I mean no disrespect by saying this, but if you want something deleted, you'd be better off directly messaging whoever is the mod of that department, and of course you'd have to show proof for it too. After all, and I'm sure you understand, but one cannot just go deleting things just because some says so. And, I'm not at all familiar with your work. I'll post the url to this thread in the Mod Forum, if that will help.

Dendras ( ) posted Tue, 13 March 2001 at 8:56 AM

Done. Thanks for the trust.

rcook ( ) posted Tue, 13 March 2001 at 8:56 AM

Dendras can you point us to a URL or image of your texture for comparison? I will contact lalverson to hear his side of the situation. Thanks for bringing this pontential problem to our attention. Russell

Well, there must be "some" form of familiarity of an artist with their own good work and I'm sure Dendras has some reason to believe one or some of these textures are his or he wouldn't feel as strongly as he does. I downloaded the textures and see no "Dendras insignia" but that could be removed, and the possibility of "coincidental duplication"?...I'm not a good one to ask, sorry ;-) But perhaps Larverson should do the explaining on this one since HE posted it?? Does one of the textures belong to Dendras, if so, then there should indeed be a problem without obvious permission. Take care.

Oops,...cross post :-0

Dendras ( ) posted Tue, 13 March 2001 at 9:15 AM

As you requested.

MikeJ ( ) posted Tue, 13 March 2001 at 9:33 AM

Yeah, that does it for me. The brick texture in the upper is identical to the one at bottom. I'm sorry this sort of thing has to happen, and it must be a bitch to have to try to keep an eye on what everyone's doing when you have stuff "out there" you're trying to make money on---worrying who's doing what with it. :(

RadArt ( ) posted Tue, 13 March 2001 at 9:37 AM

It sure is identical! I agree with Mike...what he said....yup :(

rcook ( ) posted Tue, 13 March 2001 at 9:48 AM

Dendras, thanks for the image. lalverson responded to my inquiry and said he used your image and that he had contacted you and given you credit in the readme. But, irregardless of that, it is your image. Since you wish it to be removed, it will be. Russell

Russell, please accept my thanks. I appreciate your help.

RadArt ( ) posted Tue, 13 March 2001 at 9:22 PM

Although I am glad that Dendras has indeed had this error corrected because an error was made, the error was an error, and not a malicious one, not from what I can see from Laversons post that he has made in the poser forum. Perhaps this may have been better dealt with via e-mail in this case because unless someone maliciously does something like this without further remorse all this forum stuff is unecessary and e-mailing is generally enough. Fact is Laverson feels so bad about how this all happened he has decided to "leave" and that is SAD, he will be missed, his work and his art. Although an error has been rectified, another one has happened as a result of poor hindsite. I may be just as much to blame for sticking my two cents in here, what good does any of it all do me anyways, frigg I must be mental.....and again....fuck will I ever learn...:(

Dendras ( ) posted Tue, 13 March 2001 at 11:28 PM

Lalverson and I, I'm happy to say, worked everything out. His mistake, compounded by my reaction, was easily resolved by and between the two of us. The fact that this involves a copyright infringement mandated that I post here as a notice to the membership. Sorry if anyone has a problem with that.

Taking a neutral stance, which I can honestly do in good faith, I would like to suggest that any future problems be taken directly to the site admins first, and be left out of the domain of public record.
