How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

When I saw this was put on by Alias I thought,"Hmmm...they are probably all fake, Maya can do some really amazing things." Turns out only half of them are fake. The question is: which ones? They all look so convincing!

I made this in Maya...or did i? Is it fake or not...ill let you be the judge of that, LOL.

So its not a question what Maya can do...but the artist using it....clearly i should just stick to Photoshop, LOL.

Actually, it is a question of what Maya can do. The whole point of the website is to show that Maya can produce results that are indistinguishable from actual photos. There are things that Maya can do that other programs can't even dream about doing. But yes, the artist is also important.

Margana ( ) posted Thu, 08 December 2005 at 1:26 PM

And it's still waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than I could ever do!If you should just stick to photoshop then I should just stick with a pencil and paintbrush, lol. ;^)

"There are things that Maya can do that other programs can't even dream about doing." I disagree. At least to the part of still images. The important thing is the render engine. I can model in 3D Studio MAX and render in Mental Ray, Brazil or FinalRender for instance. With the latter 2 giving you exceptionally convincing results.

I agree with you. I didn't mean to include all other programs and you provided a very good example a program that can do really cool stuff. I've rendered things with free programs that some thought were produced by really expensive programs.
