Two Mom Authors Launch an Online Radio Show For Mom Writers

The popularity of online radio programs and pod casts is growing daily and two mom writers has jumped on the bandwagon. Author Alana Morales joined forces with award winning author Paula Schmitt to create Mom Writers Talk Radio, which launched Friday, November 4th.

The show, which will feature mom authors and tips for moms who are pursuing a writing career, will air weekly and is available for download twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

We have had an overwhelming response to the show thus far states Morales. We launched on Friday and we are already booking guests into February of 2006. Their line up of mom authors includes award winning authors Joshilyn Jackson and Lani Diane Rich.

For more information about Mom Writers Talk Radio, please visit http://www.MomWritersTalkRadio.com or email Alana@MomWritersTalkRadio.com or call their toll free number at 1-877-871-1744.

I can't guarantee this market since it is new and untried, but it was posted on another writer's forum and I thought it might be of interest here:

The Town Drunk is devoted to light-hearted, quality speculative fiction. We will be looking for offerings that are fun to read, leaving our visitors entertained and eager to share what theyve read. We plan to publish one new story every two weeks.

First Reading Period: January 2-February 15, 2006

Content

At this time we want only speculative fictionthat is, work that fits into the science-fiction, fantasy, or horror genres. (Yes, there is such a thing as "lite" horror.) Cross-genre work is also welcome. Again, what
we want most is a story that will leave a reader with a smile.

Some specifics:

  • Please do not submit fanfiction or any story lines using copyrighted characters or universes.
  • We discourage gratuitous sex and violence.
  • Profanity is OK, but it should justify its existence.
  • We will not accept works judged to be blatantly offensive to any particular race, gender, or sexual orientation. Our goal is to cultivate a wide audience, after all.

Everything else is game!

Length Limit

Submissions may not exceed 5,000 words in length. A word to us is six non-whitespace characters. (Many book publishers count words similarly.) Works longer than 5,000 words will be rejected unread.

Payment Terms

We pay a flat rate of US$35. This entitles us to First Worldwide Electronic Rights, and we retain exclusive rights for three months. After that time, we may archive the story on our website indefinitely, unless the author requests otherwise. We pay on acceptance.

We regret that we cannot consider unsolicited reprints at this time.

Response Time

Our target response time is one month (on average). However, our actual response time will depend on the volume of submissions received, something which is impossible to predict at this time. Once we begin
accepting submissions and get a better feel for our turnaround, we will update this page accordingly.

Please wait six weeks before querying about a submission.

Submitting

  • We do not accept multiple submissions. Please submit only one story at a time.
  • We discourage simultaneous submissions. It's very disappointing to go through all the work necessary to evaluate a piece just to find that it's been sold to another market. We want to give each submission the careful attention it deserves, and that takes time, and even so we do not feel our response time is unreasonable. We ask that you be courteous and patient in this regard.
  • Please prepare your submission as a file in Rich Text Format (rtf). No other document format will be accepted.
  • Please use Standard Manuscript Format. Its a good habit, and it makes it easier for our copyeditor to format accepted works for publication.
  • A cover letter is unnecessary and will most likely be ignored.
  • Please use our handy submission form (available January 2) to upload your RTF document for consideration.

We look forward to seeing your work!

dialyn: The Town Drunk is looking for a logo, as well. Maybe we can post this on the 2d & 3d forums, for the aspiring logo artists. garblelookingtospreadthejoysnix

What a good catch on your part. I bet a lot of people would enjoy creating a logo for such a provocative name. :)
