Subject: rendering question

how can I make my rendering faster? some 3D scene contains ray tracing properties & it takes huge time to finish rendering. I've a P-iii 550MHz 256MB with WindowsME. My 2nd question is, does powerful 3D accelerator cards help to render fast? Mine is 32MB riva TNT 2 ultra. thanx ceaser

I think that a good 3D accelerator card is good, when u work , but for rendering time it doesnt help. when rendering it will use the CPU.

Turn off any uneeded programs Shutdown the clock turn off screensavers (along with sleep ect) turn off your monitor (Refresh rates take up a bit of processor) To minimize render time scenewise. these are the factors that you should use wisely Volumetircs Bump Lights Transparancy High Detail Imported DXF or 3DS models if your scene doesn't need too much of these - don't over do it :) Rgards, Matt

Apache is right, Bryce depends solely on the Processor speed and doesn't take advantage of graphic acelerator cards.

Make sure to render to disk and not the screen, too.

Render to disk is only used to save your memory useage if your current amount can't hold the render process nad the scene open, and to render larger and better dpi image for print :P You don't really have to use it if you have sufficient memory . Regards, Matt
