Subject: Introduce Myself

Hi,

Ive been lurking around here for a while now and thought it was time I said hello.

Although Im no stranger to graphics in general Im just a beginner in the 3D world. Got a long way to go and as this is a hobby might take a wee while :-)

Played with poser and Vue over the last couple of years but never really achieved anything I was that happy with. Switched to Carrara back in April and I am enjoying this app much more. Just finished downloading C5Pro and this looks even better.

Ill be uploading some renders to the gallery and would appreciate any comments you would care to make.

All the best
Regards
Tony

Hiya, I'm a lurker/sometimes poster too. Been using Carrara since before it was Carrara (RayDream5) and the latest incarnation is such an accomplishment! I'm certainly no pro (video is my field), but there are a few here.... Welcome welcome! Holly

Hi, Holly,

Thanks for the welcome. I agree, C5 is very nice. I don't know what it is about Carrara but it just seems to 'fit'. With Vue4 it felt like I was fighting the application to get what I wanted. Glad I changed :-)

Regards
Tony

Hi Tony, I fought with Vue (4, 5 and Infinite) for a long time too and then moved to C5P. As a result I noticed improvements to both my sanity and the quality of my work and I am now a Carrara evangelist (hehe). Welcome to the group :-)

Welcome Tony! Its always nice to see a new face around here. If you haven't already make sure to check out: http://www.3dxtract.com and http://www.eovia3d.net Both are excellent resources. Welcome to the right side of the fence! Be sure to share and to ask if something has you stumped.

Unlike Rids, I am still insane but, at 73, one can be forgiven perhaps. My life has changed for the better since being introduced to a computer and then the wonderful friendship and helpfullnes of the Eovia friends over the past couple of years. Life gets better when yyou are an Eovian!

Welcome! Your interesting alien landscapes have already introduced you as a talented hobbyist. I look forward to seeing what you make of Carrara. I have always thought that its interface was well suited to those of us who straddle the Tech/Art fence.

Thanks to all for the replies. The Eovia community looks like a nice place to be. Been lurking everywhere :-) so you'll also find me on the Yahoo group. I'm registered over at Eovia3D and 3DExtract as well but under the name -ash-. Now that I've got to grips with Carrara I intend to come out of the shadows and cease my lurking. Best regards Tony
