Question: Does anyone happen to know the refraction value for corneas?

ShawnDriscoll ( ) posted Fri, 16 December 2005 at 12:01 AM

I'm using Anything Goos for the cornea so that its edge is white while keeping the rest of the cornea clear. It helps to blend the cornea object with the rest of the eye.

The refraction value for the cornea is: 1.38 Lens: 1.41 Aqueous humor: 1.33 Vitreous humor: 1.34 Nice eye you've got there! :)

Sorry 'bout that, here's a direct link to refraction indexes.

I'll texture the white part using translucency.

Still have to texture the white part. For now it has reflection and translucency going on. Anything Goos and Veloute 2 was used on the iris part. HDRI skylighting and Indirect Lighting provided the lit room and eyes. And one bulb provided detail lighting to show the iris.

Trying fading the vessels with a gradient. Something doens't seem right with the iris.

ren_mem ( ) posted Sun, 18 December 2005 at 5:31 PM

Yeah and the floating eyeballs doesn't help either. LOL Just put a big christmas bow in the middle.

I couldn't get the gradient to travel from front to back. I used a Cellular pattern to fade out parts of the veins. Added more color depth to the iris, too. I hid the body from the scene so that I could work on the eyes easier. Thus the floating. It also lights up the eyes better so I could see how shiney/reflective they are.

Veloute 2 has some good gradients.

ShawnDriscoll ( ) posted Sun, 18 December 2005 at 6:33 PM

I'll give them a try. Thanks!

It didn't do what I was looking for. But Shader Ops had the UV gradient I needed. Now to do eye lashes and hair.

litst did a tutorial on creating an human eye in carrara (linked in this forum) several years ago. the tutorial incorporates the modelling of the eyeball, lens, cornea and the concave iris IIRC.

I'm curious how his eyes turned out. The eyes that come with Jessi in Poser 6 is what motivated me to make eyes that are more real. And I was curious if I could do it without using texture files.

I found his. It's one piece like some of the Poser eyes are with no retina or pupil.

Another red-eye flash test. My brother as been using Google to remove the red-eye from these images. It even works.
