Subject: Creating multi loading materials like P6 for P5

I was wondering if someone knew how to get p5 to load multi materials onto a prop like like p6 does, theres not a choice selection in p5 to save materials as a multiple material file but only each section seperately, also is there a way to create mat pose files for a prop?

You can only do MAT poses for props if they're parented to a figure. I'm relatively certain that you can merge multiple MT5 files to create a multi-loading MT5. Just be sure to change $CURRENT to the name of the material you want that section to apply to. I have not tested this.

You can make a MAT pose that workes on a prop even if it is not parented to anything, but there must be a figure in the Poser document before any pose file will work, you won't even get the check mark at the bottom of the pose pallet untill there is a figure in the document.

The secret of applying a pose file to an unparented prop is to refer to the 'prop' as an 'actor', eg:

actor box_1

NOT

prop box_1

The file attached above will work on the first loaded instance of a Poser box prop ("box_1"). Note that it will not work on a second instance of the box prop as this will be named "box_2". The pose swaps the props geometry to a ball and applies the default ground texture. Remember there must be a figure in the scene before you will be able to apply the pose.

If you just need to load extra maps when the prop is loaded, then you can make extra groupes in the prop and assign each group a new materila, either in UV Mapper, or in Poser via the Grouping Tool.

P.S. "actor $CURRENT" will probably work just as well in P5 or P6, but I haven't tested that. "actor $CURRENT" will not work in P4.
