Subject: Network Rendering: Operating System similarity?

Hey Everyone, I was wondering about the similar operating system requirement for Network Rendering. Are Win 2K and Win XP machines considered "the same" to the NR tool? Any thoughts/comments/advice would be super-appreciated. Thanks! Todd

You can use any combination of Windows operating systems (2000, XP, 98 ...) You can also combine MacOsX and Windows although I would not recommend it since there are some differences in that case (for instance, with Physics). Charles

My main system is Win2K Pro (SP4) and I use a laptop with Win XP Home on it as a render node. Only done a few renders like this but not had any problems so far. Regards Tony

Thanks for the info, gents! I really appreciate it. I'm glad that the O/S distribution can be somewhat heterogenous... I was crossing my fingers that I wouldn't have to cough up a few more Windows XP licenses, especially at this time of year. That's great news! Thanks again! Todd
