Ah, Gareee did something like this with Nybras (the demon from DAZ), but it was built into the figure. Is this a Python script or do you think it might work with DAZ Studio too?

I do not speak as a representative of DAZ, I speak only as a long-time member here. Be nice (and quit lying about DAZ) and I'll be nice too.

I'm about to spend on other stuff, so how much is this gonna be so I can maybe keep some back!

Photopium ( ) posted Wed, 21 December 2005 at 2:10 PM

It's not Python, and I'm not sure if it will work with DAZ. I haven't ventured into DAZ studio at this point, but if DAZ studio can handle basic code hacking and linking things up to a controller, then it should be fine. Before I get into pricing, I would like to take the time to explain just how useful and revolutionary this is going to be. Nybras huh? If memory serves, Nybras has some helpful code for wing and tail posing that may be similar in scope to what PoseMagic will be all about, but believe me when I say this is a 100% complete posing solution. More to follow after work...

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to the future of Poser Workflow. As you know, the brunt of the work in poser is scrolling around and tweaking endless Rotate and Trans dials to achieve the ultimate goal, an interesting Pose. Setting up a detailed pose can take as long as an hour, maybe even more. If you are involved in a complex scene, this can be further complicated by the parts you want to select hiding behind scene props, clothing...it can become a real frustrating mess. Wouldn't it be nice if you could get around all of that? You can, and so much more, thanks to "PoseMagic" by Me, William_The_Bloody! PoseMagic provides all the posing parameters you require on one convienient ghosted prop. Select the prop from your pulldown menu and then leave it there, you're not going to want to go anywhere for a while! Each body part is represented with all of their rotation parameters, including Trans paramters for the hip. This means you can also move and rotate your model without leaving the dial. That's bloody handy. There's more. Each major region also comes with parameters to pose as a unit. Imagine bending your model at the hip while staying in place from one dial, without unpredictable IK. Imagine One dial to have your model crouch, again while staying in place. Imagine drawing up the leg and having the calf respond with an opposing bend, like a pelican, from one dial. Or both at the same time. Imagine raising your arms, with shoulder and collar joints responding simultaneously in a fine-tuned ratio? The same with the neck and head? These functions allow for smoother and more natural looking poses without guesswork. But that's not all. Also on the dial is eye control. You've seen it before, maybe you've even coded your figures already with this. But again, it's now on one dial. Is there more? You bet! "GraspThis!" package is fully included and recoded to work from the PoseMagicDial, instead of from the individual hands. Achieve the results you want in a very short period of time. "PoseMagic" is completely non-figure dependant, meaning it works on anything with a body, small or large, that is set up with standard body parts.* Saving your poses is easy, simply save the PoseMagic prop into a new folder with the name of your pose. When you'd like to load a saved pose, simply delete the current PoseMagic prop from your workspace and load the saved one. Share PoseMagic poses with friends, sell PoseMagic pose packages for others with the system. "Wait, William," you ask, "What about regular old Pz2 poses?" Great question. Go ahead and use them. PoseMagic works with your existing poses to provide easy and fast tweaking. And before you ask, Conforming Clothing still works perfectly! I strongly believe you will be completely satisfied with this purchase. If you have any questions before purchase please do not hesitate to ask. -WTB

Dave71 ( ) posted Wed, 21 December 2005 at 7:27 PM

can you save the poses so that they work for people without this program?

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Wed, 21 December 2005 at 7:39 PM

Does it work with Apollo?

nakamuram ( ) posted Wed, 21 December 2005 at 8:07 PM

In position!!

Photopium ( ) posted Wed, 21 December 2005 at 9:24 PM

Dave71- Unfortunately, no. The good news is that, with a little Love, this will catch on and there will be a wide enough market to cater to those who do have it. A clever programmer may wish to purchase this set and examine the math, and perhaps set up a python script or make a utility that will convert PoseMagic settings into standard bend/rotate/twist pose settings. That would be neat, and anyone interested in doing that can contact me with their creds and request a free copy in exchange for same. PapaBlueMarlin- I did in fact test this with Apollo and yes, it works on Apollo. (Except for the fingers, they are all on a unique axis and therefore require a different set of numbers.) For little quirks like this, and to incorporate some ideas that are floating around that are not yet expressed, I plan expansion packages that will be as inexpensive as possible. -WTB

$26.00 Posing your character is now fluid, and things really take shape in real time. Posing is almost literally like watching an animation when the multigrouped tools are used. I believe you will find that this package really makes Poser fun again, unleasing your creativity like never before without frustration. In a way, it's almost like working with a live model. "Can you put your arms over your head?" and with one dial it's done. That sort of thing. The model you see here is one I work with just about exclusively these days, and I've coded my own PoseMagic tailored to this character for my personal use. It's great, literally everything on one dialset, including Hair Movement and facial expressions. I, for one, will never work without this again! I would like to touch on the idea of a utility converter again, and ask you all if you can recommend anyone I can approach about getting that made? Some ideas leap to mind, like CodeTwister for example...anyone else? The program must be able to examine the PP2 and the injection pz2 and see how the numbers bounce off of each other to arrive at a final number that you would see on your individual limb parameter dials. Finally, it must generate a pose file with those numbers in place. I wouldn't think it too hard, but I'm not a software writer ;) -WTB

If it works the way i think it does, then i'll make a free java based utility to do the conversion.

Since the dial parameters are fully animatable, I have found that I now have FAR LESS limbs passing through other body parts in animating. This is due to the controls that "Furl" limbs in unison...as you pose you can literally watch exactly what will happen in an animation scenario, eliminating one helluva lotta guesswork. Not for every scenario, mind you, but any help in this department is extremely...er, helpful. -WTB

Waiting patiently :) But while waiting...will this work with P5?

Photopium ( ) posted Tue, 27 December 2005 at 9:29 PM

Yes, it should work on anything P4 and beyond. It was hammered out on P6 but there's nothing in it that isn't legacy code, except for parameter group commands, but P5 has them, so good times. I have already done the bulk of the work on the first update for this package, which will be free. It adds even more versatility for things that I noticed it was missing in everyday use. One major update will be the extra sets so you can use PoseMagic on more than one figure in a scene. Why I didn't think of that in the first place, I don't know lol. Another is controls to handle your UniversalMagicMags if you've got them (Cross Promotion anyone?). There will be a dial for each Magnet control on UMM Set 1. For me, these handle breast motion on females, while UMM Set 2 handles the actual shape modifications, which don't need to change. Another will be to handle Male Genitalia. Still another will be to handle standard morph expressions. All that in the first update. Folks, if you buy this package and you love it as much as I do, spread the word. Not so I can make money, which is nice, but so that it can really catch on and become the new standard in how we work with Posing figures. That way, enough people will have the system to start making pose packs that work with PoseMagic. -WTB

Not at all. It's just an option to have the ability to control set 1 from PoseMagic, so that you don't have to scroll through the directory to get to UMM. If you have them, it's a convienience, if not, it won't hurt a thing. -WTB

Photopium ( ) posted Wed, 28 December 2005 at 10:21 PM

I have no idea how BodyStudio handles ghost props with slave dials rigged to every aspect of the character's rotation and morph parameters. If It handles it just fine, then this should be fine. -WTB
