This is a WIP - I'd like advice on better lighting and how to get the figures to cast shadows - I'm using P6 and haven't yet figured that one out. Thanks for any help given.

My aspiration: to make a decent Poser Render I'm an Oldie, a goldie, but not a miracle worker :-)

Something's casting a shadow on girl-L. Possibly girl-R. What is your lighting concept here, are you using AO shaders or infinite/spots with depth-mapped shadows? in otherwords, is it dark in this place or are there bright spots? ::::: Opera :::::

You have shadows in the image; they just aren't very clear. Personally, I avoid depth mapped shadows at all costs. Too much of a render time overhead IMO. With P6 you can have soft raytraced shadows which give 90% of the benefits of depth mapped shadows, along with more control, less RAM use and faster render times. The problem as far as I can tell is that your current light setup doesn't take any ambient light into account. You can fake this by placing a wide angle spot above the scene, or an infinite light at a relatively low intensity. Since the majority of the light is coming from the panels, you will have darker areas in the centre, where the two figures are blocking out the light, but there will be some scattering, due to the reflectivity of the figures and the air, which is full of moisture and dust particles. If I was you, I'd drop a light above the scene and increse the overall intensity of the remaining lights. Something else to bear in mind is the setting. How many clubs have you visited where the light was ideal?

thanks for the advice - I'll play around with the light settings etc till I get as near to what I want as possible. Got to admit the image I posted was low res so not v. helpful maybe - still it's good to experiment, and lighting's a new concept for me apart from the straightforward default Poser settings.
