Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 22 10:18 pm)
Yes, I know this, for new Poser works, the path is correct, but for poser works done on the old PC, the path for the to textures and such files are incorrect (on the new PC)and I have to keep telling Poser where these files is now. I am wondering if there's a way to edit the Poser files and point them to the right path?
ok, then the problem is that the old poser files have absolute paths hard-coded to the old locations. when it asks you to manually locate everything, then resave the new saved version andit should have the new locations saved. (otherwise you'll have to open ity in a text file and edit the paqths manually (a formidable task for larger files).

There is something in the Free Stuff that might help "CorrectReference", I haven't used it, but here is the blurb: "CorrectReference scans through your library files correcting image references. This promotes faster loading into Poser and more reliable bank-switching in PBooost! You must register a free account to download this item." There may also be Python scripts that can help, try asking in the "Poser Python Scripting" forum.
I don't know where it is in XP. You might search for "Disk Management" in help. You should be able to change the letter assigned to the drive. That might be OK if your Poser files are the only things on it and you won't mess up anything else. I think Correct Reference will only do image files if so and you have some absolute paths to .obj files those would still be a problem. You could also use a text replacement utility I suppose to change all the occurences of D: with E: in those folders but I'd be real careful trying that.

Hi, I got a new PC for the holiday and I am running into a problem that I hope some one here can help me. On my old PC, I got Poser running on Drive C: and my Runtime folder was on Drive E. I moved the Drive containing the Runtime to the new PC, but it shows up as Drive D, and now every time I opened an old Pose r file it is looking for the missing files on Drive E and I keep have to point Poser to the new location. Anyone here know a way to automatically have Poser file look at the new folder or is there a way in Window XP for me to assign the Drive to match my old PC? TIA, Fire_bug
