This is something that I've actually done. The way I achieved it was to build the text using the standard text object, setting the depth to quite shallow and I scaled it to be flat. I then set the color to black and the glow to the standard yellow text color that you see in the movie. I turned my camera upward and slowly raised the text. The animation is very simple. Make sure you set the object accuracy to 0.5 (the limit) or you will suffer crapy pixelation as the words drift into the distance. Also set the anti-aliasing up until the results get you what you're looking for. If you need more detail, just post your quetions and We'll get them answered. -Kix

Far be it from me to double-check Kix on ANYTHING Star Wars.... BUT... you could also just do it the way they did. ;) Set up a plane that's rectangular. Shade it with a texture map of the text you want as a alpha map. Place the same color Kix mentions, then add the color into the glow channel as well. (Probably at a dimmer level.) Animate your camera to come over the plane aiming the opposite way from it's travel. I would agree about the accuracy settings. Also render larger (double or more, at an even multiple,) then your final resolution, then down-rez in your editing program. Happy new year, and happy renderings! :D
