Subject: Vue 5 Esprit creating forrests

obaeyens ( ) posted Tue, 27 December 2005 at 1:56 PM · edited Tue, 25 February 2025 at 7:15 AM

I have Moyoworld, I love it but it is very hard to position Poser models and very hard to make a movie and forrest. So I bought Bryce, but it turns out that land is more a island-like surface would love to have something more infinit looking. Now I am looking at Vue 5 Esprit but I have an impression tht this version does not create a forrest automatically, the infinit does. Is that so? Many thanks

Vue 5 Infinite is the "top-of-the-line" Vue product and has many advantages over the older and less expensive versions.

For instance it has "EcoSystems" for easily populating your terrains (or any object that you can apply a material to, an EcoSystem is a material) with thousands of objects - that's what you are referring to.

All the details are on the e-on software site, including extensive product feature comparisons.

Since you mentioned MojoWorld and Bryce you might want to look at Carrara 5 Pro also. It is an up and coming class act for landscaping and populating terrians with trees. Vue Inf will populate terrians so there are lots to choose from. :)

You might also want to check out WorldBuilder. Haven't worked with it myself, but from what I understand it is doing things like forests quite nicely, too.

Many thanks for the information. It is a bit too pricy this infinit, I already spent a lot of money on other graphics products. I wanted to have something better than Mojoworld to build a custom background including tree's and ecosystem.

I have both Carrara5 Pro and Vue5 Infinite. I've done some very nice work with V5I. However, considering C5Pros excellent modeling tools, and superior terrain tools (not to mention excellent surface distribution -- similar to V5I), I'm using C5Pro more and more -- just too many bugs with Vue. For example, plants get distorted with the latest Vue patch! I just discovered that a few days ago, and reported it with 7 screen captures. It seems like e-on fixes one set of problems, then new ones crop up due to the "fix." I think e-on used too much Vue4 code in creating V5I -- V5I should have been a clean code base. Carrara has been wonderfully bug free.

@LCBoliou: I'll have to agree with you. I've found Vue 5i to be a major disappointment with constant crashing, poor memory management, and patches which tend to make matters worse. I'm still laughing at the Cornucopia 3D fiasco. I have a $50 voucher which I'll never end up using. I have Carrara 5 Pro ordered and I'm eagerly awaiting its arrival. If any product will bring Vue 5i to its knees, this one very well may. With the next generation of Terragen just around the corner, the choices become even broader. I've given up on E-on entirely. What was once a great company has seemingly gone down the proverbial toilet, which is really too bad. I can't even sell my copy of V5i for $250. I tried. I'll probably resort to simply giving it away.

Carrara 5 regular (not pro), can do the forest mass distribution thing as well - for a less expensive option.

Truth has no value without backing by unfounded belief.

I have been checking on Carrara, it seems interesting. Too bad that they make the european version more expensive than the American version.

I am convinced about Carrara 5. It seems very interesting, but the pro version is a little bit too expensive. So I purchased Carrara, and the Poser plugin. Mojoworld is nice, but too hard to put my poser figures, I am hoping I took a good choice. :-)
