Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 20 7:20 am)
The Unimesh Realism Kit only affects the materials on your figure. You can go into the material room and unplug all the nodes (I suggest hitting the delete unattached nodes button) or, if you used a MAT pose to apply the original texture, go back and reapply it. That usually deletes out all the other nodes. I love the Realism Kit. You really don't have to understand all the IBL stuff to use it. The default setting work pretty well. There's a link to some tutorials in another query that was posted in the last day or so. Do a search for face_off and you should find it.
My render looks poor. If I had been putting her in a hospital bed, :>) it might work but I'm going for something a bit different. It took me a little while to finaly purchase this kit. From what I read It is great. I just opened that file I ran the kit on and there are no nodes showing. But they still show in her properties??? Yes "face_off" post, thanks thats the post I read earlyer. I'm doing something wrong. I know I must be missing something here. I'm currently trying to figure out another problem, when I'm "back on track" I will give the tuts a good through read. Many Thanks.

I did this render when I first got the kit. I used the standard settings and a slightly modified stabdard 3-light setup. I know your lights make a big difference. You generally want to assign your brightest light as the main light for the set to use.Attached Link: http://market.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=37882
Very Nice. I'm not far off but definetly need some work. It seems though what you used is different? Though the product mentions it as being a combination of other products. Maybe I'm only getting half of that? Your using Poser 5? The product is Poser 5? I should off added in my 1st post. I'm using Poser 6 & a Mac which the product in your link does not support. Story of my life. :) Hmmm Poser 6 gives the option of rendering the Poser4 way. Maybe I should try this? Thanks again. ScottI think I used the V3 only version on that one...I have the Unimesh one now and the Python screen was pretty much the same on the V3. I now use Poser 6 on a PC (WinXP). Almost all of my pics of people since that one use the Unimesh Realism Kit. Wow, that's way different from the PC version. It has slider bars with default values instead of just the numbers. The Mac version does look more daunting to those of us who don't really understand exactly what each option does. Try contacting face_off. Maybe you can send your picture and a screen shot of your settibgs to see what might help. The product gives fantastic realism if you figure out how to use it. Good luck!

Firstly, there is a forum specifically for asking these sorts of questions at the above link. *It seems though it will require a bit more experience then I thought. IBL, Bumps, ect...* The script should handle this for you. To start with, leave IBL out of your lightset and get the results you want. Then later if you want to use IBL with the Realism Kits, there are a couple of tutorials in the forum link above. *How do I detach the mesh?* The Realism Kit simply builds a node network in the material room for your figure. To clear it, just apply a normal MAT pose for the figure. *I just opened that file I ran the kit on and there are no nodes showing. But they still show in her properties???* Can you post a screenshoot of the python status screen after running the script? Someone ppl forget to apply a MAT pose with the figure first, which means the python scripts has no texturemaps to work with. It reports this situation in the python status window. *Your using Poser 5? The product is Poser 5?* Unimesh Realism Kit is Poser 6 only. If you are on the Mac version, the python script dialog box will look a little different (due to the P6 Mac not having the tkinter GUI). The PC version has sliders, the Mac version has buttons instead. *Hmmm Poser 6 gives the option of rendering the Poser4 way.* A number of people render with the Kit using the P4 renderer. I personally don't, since I much prefer FireFly, however it is an option you can explore. It might be a little easier to see what's going wrong if oyu can post some samples?Creator of PoserPhysics

The product creators are here in the dugout, (so to speak). answering questions & giving advice.
Many Many thanks.
I have tryed to recreate the poor results from the above, (I cleaned up my file/folders yesterday & those got deleted), :(
My renders are coming out much better now.
My previous renders were not using the brightest light I got no other errors. Also I've been keeping my main lights in all scenes with a hint of red, thinking it will add more realism. I'm wondering if those might off been just a bit too red causing over blemishing. You say to pose lights to my happiness before adding the UM, not something I did the other day.
I really jumped into this without thinking about what I was doing and some other problems just over frustrated me.
My results now are very nice. Hopefully after the weekend I will get to the tuts in the above link.
Thankyou for a fine product & the feedback here!
I still haven't had time to check out your tutorial efforts in link above, blame it on the holidays.
I would like to give these a good read through before bothering you with unneeded questioning.
However...
I will. :>)
See next post.
I replaced the texture matts & the UM's most definetly shut off, no nodes showing in advance materials. However & this aint a big deal. Chosing her hip the sliders still show the settings? Common?
And one last thought...
I tryed adding bumps before activating UM and though I got no errors in Python I still got warning symbols showing in the basic amterials.
Once again I truely would like to give your tuts a good read & currently are much happier with my results.
Thanks Again!!
Scott

Scott, adding a hint of red to your brightest light will cause poor results. The material room node setup the scripts implement adds more than enough red - and in just the right places. Adding more via lights is probably the cause of most of your problems. As a rule, I use all white lights. The exception would be when doing IBL renders, using the method in the above link. As for the slider on her hips - that is simply the way the Unimesh Realism Kit "remembers" the last settings you used. It is not effecting the renders.Creator of PoserPhysics

Reds... I had a feeling this was my problem. I wish I had a render to show from my 1st trys. I just created an account on the above site. To busy now but I'm off to work soon. I'll give them a good look when I'm there. Thanks for your efforts! Thanks Again very much!!! Great Happy Holidays to you. Scott

I recently purchased this kit. It realy looks like a great add on. It seems though it will require a bit more experience then I thought. IBL, Bumps, ect... I did a search here & got a link to some realy nice tuts. But I have too much to think about with the scene I'm working on so I will save this seemingly great render tool for another time. However now one of my charactors is stuck with an incomplete & poor looking mesh. :( She has morphs I have adjusted and I'ld rather not start over with her so... How do I detach the mesh? After selecting her hip I see the adjustments in the properties But zeroing them out didn't seem to work. Please Help! ") Thanks for any replys. Scott
