Subject: How many people uninstall their previous versions of Poser?

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Thu, 29 December 2005 at 8:10 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 7:36 PM

Right now I'm using Poser 6 and have no reason to go back to Poser 5 just yet. I'm just curious to know how many people have uninstalled P5 when they upgraded to P6.

I have P6, P5 and P4 installed. I hated P5 but it does a few things that P6 has issues with ... I still like P4 for speed

I still have Poser 5 installed. As I recall, there were a couple of scripts that had some issues with P6 for a while, so I left P5 to use that if needed. I uninstalled P4 some time ago. I kept it for ages after installing P5, but then realized that I was never using it! bonni

P4, PP, P5 and two copies of P6 installed. I actually use 'em all too, for testing. However, P2 only sits in its box. ;-)

I just got Poser 6 and after transferring the few things I had installed in Poser 5 (IE: Wardrobe Wizard, materials, !DAZ), I uninstalled it. I see no reason to have 2 versions of the same program on my computer.

I'm running 6, but I still have 5 installed because AFAIK, there isn't a Poser 6 compatible version of The Tailor. It's only a small PITA to copy characters and clothes from 6 to 5, load and resave them in 5, bring them in to Tailor to transfer the morphs, and then copy the new items back into 6...

Rachel_R ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2005 at 4:06 AM

I uninstalled 5 long before 6 came out. Now I have 4 & 6.

P4 and P6 for checking some things (compatibility)

Poser 5 is still on the partition, but I never use it anymore because I like Poser 6 a lot more. But it's a big partition
so I never felt the need to remove Poser 5, thinking that someday I might need it for something. If you are running
out of disk space I could see where you might want to remove it though.

Uninstalled all after getting Poser 6.... so P4, P5 & D/S are all gone.

I un-installed P5 when I got P6 but I use P4 maybe twice as much as P6.

pigfish9 ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2005 at 11:18 AM

I've uninstalled P4 and P5 so P6 and D/S (which I only use if I'm going to export to Bryce) are left.

BTW, in addition, on one of my PC's I have Poser 3 installed :D

I've kept PP just in case I need to check if P5 or P6 works differently.

I've kept P5 because of several hacks on the Python install that I want to keep and for checking differences compared to P6.

I have Poser6 and Poser4. Once Poser7 is out, I'll be uninstalling both Poser4 and 6.
