Subject: Where, oh where, has the Baron Vlad Harkonnen gone?

yungturk39 ( ) posted Sun, 01 January 2006 at 3:40 AM · edited Tue, 22 October 2024 at 4:10 AM

His marketplace store has been zapped clean, it seems. I saw he had his own website, but I forgot its name, and the search engines aren't pulling it up anymore. Where can I find his stuff now?

jtbethel ( ) posted Sun, 01 January 2006 at 4:29 AM

I can find 9 items on his store but I am afraid that things are seem to be changing and were heading away from the Fantasy type clothing. Recently I've seen babies and ballet dancers. I spoke to Eloraoncedark and he said he had beenn kicked out of Renderosity for being to fetish orientated. Perhaps we should start a thread "Who wants more Adult stuff"

Roisty sent out 2 emails to all merchants about nudity issues

I can't imagine it was a easy decsion to make, but nudity is one issue most merchants have been aware about for a long time. If they havn't been bothered to change any images, whos fault is that ?

Though I will agree that posting these messages over xmas was unfair to some newer merchants.

Artistic nudity is fine in my book. But be honest a lot of stuff here borders on soft porn, particulary the photos, and sometimes that makes life tricky if you're trying to showcase what poser and the poser community can do.

You can still see nudity on promos 1 and 2 on adult figures. Though I do disagree with this decsion for the manga figures, as most are not childlike.

IMHO, It's something they should have done ages ago.
So well done to Clint, Debs and the team.

paper-tiger ( ) posted Sun, 01 January 2006 at 6:50 AM

I was wondering the same thing a few days ago - I bought something of his, then came back the next day to buy something else, and 3/4 of the store was gone! The fetish theory doesn't make sense, because 4 out of the 9 items left are fetish/vinyl/gothic intimiate types. And several of the ones that are goine (and coincidentally the ones I was excited about) were fantasy-armour types. :/ BVH hasn't responded to PMs (from me, anyway), so maybe he's just taking a break fron R'osity for awhile. shrug

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Sun, 01 January 2006 at 7:01 AM

According to the members page, he last visited on Friday. He might simply be preoccupied with the holidays, or busy creating new promo pics for his products.

philebus ( ) posted Sun, 01 January 2006 at 7:36 AM

If, as mrsparky says, the emails were sent out over xmas, then I shouldn't expect any of the affected merchants to be getting it sorted too quickly. Once the holidays are over, things might start to happen.

pigfish9 ( ) posted Sun, 01 January 2006 at 8:38 AM · edited Sun, 01 January 2006 at 8:42 AM

His e-mail listed in his product ReadMe file is baron_vlad_harkonnen@lycos.com. I did a Yahoo! search for Baron Vlad Harkonnen and found a website with the word planet in it that is selling a few of his items.

I'm NOT a merchant. All I know is I go to make a purchase from the marketplace and stuff all over the place is gone.

Acadia ( ) posted Sun, 01 January 2006 at 8:55 AM

Not gone. In holding pending new promo image submissions from the merchant. Of course it's possible that some merchants will just say "the heck with it", and not bother submitting new images resulting in the products actually being gone. But that isn't the intention behind them currently "missing" from the MP. I like BVH's stuff and I bought a whole lot of it earlier this year. I hope he doesn't opt to leaving them out of the MP. I don't find his items "fetish". It's fantasy warrior armor. If anyone does consider them "fetish", all they need to do is an uncensored google image search to see what real "fetish" garmets look like, LOL

BVH's website is at the link, although there are only 4 things on offer there, and one of them is here under a different name (Xeno Dreams here, Electric Rosette there).

semidieu ( ) posted Sun, 01 January 2006 at 12:37 PM

Why didn't renderosity leave the product here and replace temporary the pictures by a "NUDITY FLAG". And couldn't we have an option in our profile to select if YES or NO we want product with nudity/fetish ?

That's probably only available in "Bondware 3.0 PHB" ;)

You can purchase his stuff directly at his site at planetvixens. You can also contact him directly. He's a really cool guy.

How far is the Censorship thing going to go? every year something new turns up in the TOS, will it be the end of merchants like BVH? perhaps to solve this issue perhaps Rosity should make an adult area to the site that has 2005 levels of TOS thus keeping people who allergic to any flesh in one area, and us who like it the way it is... otherwise we will see the end of people like SVDL,Prog, and BVH, who contribute alot here (in galleries and marketplace)

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

Quote - 80% breast coverage and butt coverage

Don't go to a beach then. I doubt 1/2 the women ... or men (the butt coverage thing), have heard that one :)

philebus: The 1st dealt with nudity generally, the 2nd dealt with the manga figures. Subject: Nudity in the MarketPlace Date: Mon, 12 Dec 2005 10:06:05 -0600 Subject: Nudity Guidelines Date: Tue, 27 Dec 2005 14:40:21 -0600 My guess is a lot of stuff is now held in pending, not just from one merchant, and once it's fixed it'll could be back up soon. If not think of the cool new stuff they could be making to replace it.

As a shoper I just need a stable marketplace with no surprises for consumer confidence.

drifterlee ( ) posted Sun, 01 January 2006 at 9:44 PM

80% covered??? What will happen to us pinup artists? Has the extreme right or George W. taken over RR??? This is ridiculous!

Lucie ( ) posted Sun, 01 January 2006 at 10:01 PM

80% covered is for the marketplace only and only on the thumbnail and the first promo image, second and third promo image can show lotsa skin... Unless it's using a figure that is considered too childlike by the powers-that-be here. So I think Pinup artists don't really have anything to worry about just yet anyway... ;)

What makes you think its not the extreme left doing this. As a member of the right, I havent seen any problems with any of this stuff except for the censorship that keeps popping up. Quit blaming us on the right for this kind of stuff. The left is just as guilty of it when it suits their purposes.

Warmest Regards,

Does that mean I don't get any updates, when I buy something here from a merchant and he leaves because of the ever changing TOS? Sorry to say so, but Renderosity seems to loose it's reliability. Does the new TOS mean that I won't get textures for Miki and Aiko, because they cannot be shown? It's time for Renderosity to make a spin-off in a more liberal country, or that an alternate page comes up with the same popularity and relaxed restrictions. I thought that the existing TOS was already restrictive enough. ...and this is not a political discussion...

Acadia ( ) posted Mon, 02 January 2006 at 5:09 AM

They can be shown, just not nude. A 2 piece bathing suit is allowed from what I have read. Also, I don't know if there is anything stopping the merchant from linking to gallery images, or posting links to zipped images showing the full texture. I guess you can check with the mods about that.

Just thought I'd mention that the staff here listened to the merchants and have revisited the guidelines a nice bit, Aiko, Miki, the Girl won't be considered child-like figures anymore is one of the changes they made, as a merchant, I thought it was pretty cool of them to have listened, discussed this some more and made appropriate changes. :)

The planetvixens site is temporarily out of commission for redesign. All you get is a basic notice, with a contact address for the Baron.

arcady ( ) posted Wed, 11 January 2006 at 11:20 PM

What's the rule with the anime figures? Considering that anime is the source of most of today's hardest core brutal porn, clothing manga figures is more innapropriate than leaving them nude. One of my reasons for going into 3D to begin with was that I had learned to draw in a manga style, and that genre is too identified with fetishists which I didn't want to be connected to...

BVH has gone offline note just here, but on every single other 3D site I have been able to find. There are a lot of suddenly empty shops...

The Baron's store here has dropped to just one item, though his freestuff hasn't changed. At least one of those items, while using the same texturemaps and with a fetishwear connection in the directory names, was a respectably-cut one-piece swimsuit. With one item left in the store, and the freestuff, it's hard to explain this as the Baron choosing to walk away from Renderosity. It's also hard to reconcile it with the version of policy we've been told about.
