Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 22 10:18 pm)
For me at least, the site runs even slower than Rosity. It's like a sloth on Valium.
Coppula eam se non posit acceptera jocularum.
It looks like a Poser program of another kind. I like the fact it lets you resculpt a characters features similar to the way modeling programs do. A advanced release for it's first version perhaps. Realy cool!
More cool it even exports to Carrara, Cinema 4D, Lightwave, 3DS MAX, Maya, it's characters fully rigged. :)
My brain is just a toy box filled with weird things
(from google)
"Quidam, pronounced "key-dam", is a Latin word for an anonymous passer-by."
The rest of it sounds exactly like Poser right down to the "Ergonomic Interface", heheh. The face sculpting description sounds like morph putty and the face room functionality by another turn of phrase.
Agreed, this is going to be very interesting!

It doesn't mention any ability to animate. It mentions the ability to export the models, including textures and bones (with the extra plugins) to high end programs like Lightwave, but it sounds like you'd have to animate them within the high end program, not Quidam. It may be worth keeping an eye on, though.

The models in Quidam seem to consist of Subdivision Surfaces. Nice. I will have a look on this.

That's pretty darn slow!!!! LOL

"It mentions the ability to export the models, including textures and bones (with the extra plugins) to high end programs like Lightwave, but it sounds like you'd have to animate them within the high end program, not Quidam." If you're exporting to a high end program anyway, why not just animate there? This sounds pretty cool.
If you're exporting to a high end program anyway, why not just animate there? operative word: "If" ;) Interesting. IT looks like a parametric tool, akin to xfrog for people. The end use licensing of the end result meshes will be of import for it to have a lot of impact ont he poser community.
thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)
"If you're exporting to a high end program anyway, why not just animate there?" I prefer to use the dials found in Poser for animation. I know exactly what I'm moving and exactly what direction it's moving. Sometimes displaying 3D motion on a 2D screen gets a little confusing and I can avoid that. Granted the high end apps have certain aspects that far surpass Posers but those dials make all the difference in the world - for me. [That's also why I haven't bothered with the GreenBriar Poser/Lightwave plugins.] I also don't have to worry about target nulls and all sorts of other things that are often used in the higher end apps. I look at other's work within some of the high end apps and think, "Sheesh, how can they keep track of what's what on that cluttered screen??" In other words, it's just easier for me in Poser. I do, however, animate other things in the high end apps (I use Lightwave). I also texture there. I like the Poser/Lightwave combination enough that I haven't upgraded Poser since Pro Pack. I'd be tempted to try P6/Carrara (it sure seems to work well for wolf359) but I can't afford to buy Carrara. Maybe one of these days...

Looks very interesting indeed.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
