For the benchmark file I chose the file named Caustic because that's on the demo as well as full version. It's located at Scenes then Global illumination. All default setting, I opened the file and changed nothing and hit render button(not render in new window).
My time 18 seconds.

Please everyone no matter what system configuation you have, use the file named Caustic because that's on the C5 PRO demo to test your time and post the info here so we can all benifit. Any one out there got a AMD 64 X2 Dualcore CPU in their machine? I'd really like to see what the render time is for the: AMD 64 X2,4400+,4600+ and 4800+ Dualcore CPUs out there. I'm considering getting the 4400+ because it looks like it's doing well with Zbrush and Vue 5I benchmarks. Thanks

C5 Pro XP Pro CPU: Intel P4, 2.6 MHz (Northwood) MB: Asus P4P800 Deluxe (no turbo or overclock) Memory: 1Gig (PC3500 DDR) Video Adapter: ASUS A9600XT (128 MB)(no turbo or overclock) 18 sec. I would say Athlon64 X2 is definitely doing well.
No need to think outside the box....
Just make it
invisible.

Not bad for a 3.5 year old machine!

Well No ones been able to post results for the AMD 64 X2,4400+ But frome other results X2 results. I'm guessing it's gonna be 8 or 9 sec. So Kixum, when get yours out of storage, please put the results here. While I'm guessing I think that if someone post the results for a 2 processor dualcore opeteron setup, it's gonna be 6 or 7 sec, same for Apple's quad. As this thread goes off the first page Anyone think this thread is worthy of a backroom link? Kixum?

Hi Shonner Start a new thread Maybe Called Benchmarks 2. Pick one, render it, post the results. I'll try it. I just picked one that I remembered was on demo for sure. But a longer more copmplex render would be better, especialy when people start posting opterons and such.

I've actually built a simple scene as a benchmark that runs for over a minute. I just have the render settings turned way up. I was kicking around the idea of building a web page for the backroom which could be added to as people posted. I think it's more important to have a render which takes a while because it can smooth out irregularities and also be "worthy" to test systems for a long time. Irregularities means (my definition strictly) that some computers perform little tasks or page memory or do things that interfere with the render. If you have a long render and perform it a few times, you can get a better idea of how well your machine is performing. If the test takes a long time (minutes), it can also be used for a while to compare to older machines. This scene in this thread is already being crushed down to 8 seconds. I personally believe this is already too short. What happense when we get it down to 2 seconds? It's just not long enough to really know how things are comparing. 170 seconds versus 125 seconds is a little more telling (not a ton but a little). I'm getting ready to open the final boxes from my move this weekend. I'll see what I can do. -Kix

Sounds Great.I'll keep my eyes open to see if or when the test file is available for download. Thanks

I started the same thread at the Yahoo Carrara group to see if I could get the results for the AMD 64 X2,4400+ and someone there had one running. They did and it came in at 9 seconds:) Thus my quest is fulfilled. Now What?

Tyan makes a mobo that can hold 4 dualcore opteron 800 series processors That's 8 cores. Afford is such a relitive term. I could afford a system like that if I sold my car and sombody elses car that has a better car than mine ;}

Carrara 5 render benchmarks? I would like to see how different peoples System and CPUs would handle a Carrara 5 scene. So that I can see what kind of render time my comp gets compared to others. This will help me figure out what to do my next upcoming system upgrade. Is there a benchmark list Carrara 5 somewhere online?
