Are there any free Global Illumination files, or even ready to fo light sets, for Carrara, I could try out?

Go to the "Scenes" tab in the browser at the bottom of the screen. There are several.

Sounds awsome, but what Scenes tab? All I see at the bottom of the screen are message" links, which screen?

Presuming you have Carrara 5, the tab at the bottom of the Carrara screen "lifts up" to where ALL the goodies are. I'me beginning to wonder if any one reads Help manuals or the Quick Tours?

No offense, but if you're like me, manuals aren't practical. The first time through, I don't have a context. Even later passes, I often don't know the terms or know how to look up what I want. It generally works better if I fumble around and ask questions when I get lost... My $.02.

Yeah, but the quick tours while not perfect only require clicking and watching, since its a movie.I find doing a search in the manual for what I want also quick. To me that seems quicker than posting and maybe getting an answer, especially for basics. But different strokes and all that.

No need to think outside the box....
    Just make it invisible.

Oh, in the applcation! No, I don't ahve Carrara 5. 4 is all we've got! = )

The very first thing I do with any new or updated app is to click on everything clickable to see whats there. This produces a list of questions which, if not covered in the quick tour,I get answered through the Help manual. Not a day would pass without using the search facility in the Help file--it's the first place to go to solve problems! I prefer the printed manual but I have spent 70 years learning from the written word--from books--manuals-if we didnt have something we read a book and made it--tractors from old model A Fords when you coulnt buy a tractor. I can not understand people who find reading and researching a drudge. As ren men said--different strokes--

Angelouscuitry Many of the same GI scenes that are in C5 were also included in C4. You can access them via the scene wizard.

Try this if you're feeling adventurous. Written back when 4 came out and still works... gonna have to update to show how Carrara can be used to create an image with spherical camera, then port through HDRIShop... Ah, if I only had more time... Ken ![dork.gif](http://market.renderosity.com/~carrara/emoticons/dork.gif)

JayPeG ( ) posted Fri, 06 January 2006 at 1:17 PM

FYI... You don't have to use HDRIShop to do it. You can also use Photoshop CS2.

cckens ( ) posted Fri, 06 January 2006 at 7:09 PM

Some of us can't afford it... :) I simply use HDRIShop and Paint Shop Pro to do the editing... Ken dork.gif

Well for those of us who can afford it it's a good option. :-) Especially for Mac users since there is no HDRIShop for Mac but there is Photoshop CS2.
