Subject: Synchronizing Cameras From Lightwave with Vue Infinite

Any one have any success in getting LW camera motions imported into Vue Infinite? I've been trying for several weeks to get it to work and nothing happens. According to the manual it should just magically works. However that isn't what I'm seeing. I have a thread on the tech support site that's been going for a few weeks now, but they haven't been much help. Any pointers on getting this to work? Or does it not work at all? Thanks, John

I have had it working. There's not much in the way of documentation so its a matter of finding out for yourself. Open Vue, start/open project. Open LW. Load scene into LW. Use plugin, the camera movement should appear in Vue. Both applications need to be open. 2 things to note: To finish the plugin, use the Esc key. LW will only export the number of frames that you've set in render options. This is usually defaulted to 60.

Animate a camera move in LW, making sure to set the frame range in the render panel to that of the move. run the sync plugin, obviously setting the camera to be sync'd. Open vue, it'll say a new sync file has been detected, and ask if you want to use it, selcet vue's main camera, in the top right hand corner of the interface, select the cameras animation tab, and select syncronised from the motion dropdown.

Thanks so much for the pointers. I'll give this another try this evening. John

One other thing I noticed when I had to do that a couple months ago was change the grid scale a bunch in LW to view the objects correctly. I don't have a PC setup here so I can't check anything out. Carl

Thanks much for your help guys. Between this thread and the thread on the e-on site I managed to sync a simple camera. Here's what I wound up doing: 1. open LW and Vue 2. in LW run Vue Pro Syncornizer 3. go to the LW content directory where VESync.dat is written and copy/move the file to the Vue 5 Infinite directory. They seem to have the path for VESync.dat hard coded in Vue -- which isn't very good coding practice. I guess I'll be manually copying the file when I want to sync cameras and lights. Thanks again for all your help, John
