ProPack I do have Poser5 but dont use it. I think people (like myself) that either use another program for rendering and material settings, and /or use a Poser image just for compositing in a 2D application, tend to use the simpler version of Poser.

Poser 6, though I still have P4 and 5 installed. Renders I do in Vue 5i.

Poser6. Last week I wiped my P4 runtime. I just use it for Testing until Poser7. Once we have had 3 version of Poser witht he material room, I am unistalling Poser4. Never used ProPack. Many merchants hold onto Poser4/PP for testing.

P6. Still have P5 installed, use it sometimes to get rid of duplicated CenterOfMass props. Rendering mostly in Vue5i. Agree with Anton: go Poser 6!

Poser 6 here, too. Gotta love some things, i.e., material room is a fave.

I have 4 and 5 installed still but pretty much exclusively use 6 now.

I have all versions from Poser 3 up. I use Poser 6 almost exclusively. I only use the earlier versions when I need to check my work for compatability.

I use propack when developing characters and textures, because it works fast. but I prefer P6 and use that for any art creation. Rawn

sbertram ( ) posted Wed, 11 January 2006 at 8:34 AM

I use all three depending on my needs. Probably Propack the most often, unless I need animated textures or dynamics. It's still much faster rendering with Propack, though I dream of the day when I can give it up for an updated library structure like P5 P6...They need to either go with a plugin architecture where you can turn off dynamics and all the other rooms when they do P7, or maybe make a P7 LE that is basically a trumped up Propack with a few updates. Anyway, I know that's not what this thread is about, so I'll save it for EF ;-)

P6 only.... started with P2 and had all the version inbetween except PP.

that count was by hand so it may not be 100% accurate. I noticed several people said they are getting p6 but i counted them as what they have/use now.

Im still using Poser PP, of three reasons: 1) The final result Im striving for in my artwork doesnt demand real life lightning and shadows. (Most of it can be acchieved anyway with easy and, for me, stimulating postwork in Photoshop) 2) Poser PP is superb for animations and Im satisfied with the workflow. 3) Right now I spend my money on props and clothing instead. But I might upgrade to Poser 6 (or 7) in the future, it all depends on my needs!

P6 here, with P5 and DS for occasional testing. What is this P4 you speak of?

Sam, how about "Falling Water" for Poser? I'd pay for that. Or a Japanese Tea House.

Redfern ( ) posted Wed, 11 January 2006 at 11:53 AM

Poser 4 for general speed of rendering, Poser 6 for those effects (like displacement) that just can't be achieved "in program" with P4. Sincerely, Bill

Poser 6 here. I used P5 once since installing 6 and sometimes test things out there. I don't have P4/PP installed any more.

cyberscape ( ) posted Wed, 11 January 2006 at 2:43 PM

Poser 5 for everything but morph target export(which it just won't do). I use ProPack for the morph targets and editing transmaps(since it IS faster than P5). I'll probably wait for Poser7. I've still got a lot to learn about P5 yet!

PP, P5 , P6 and DS installed here.

Still use ProPack 95% of the time because the dials in P5/6 are way too "loose" for my taste to do serious Magnet/Morph work. If I dial a "1" with my mouse, I want the coresponding morph to be "1", and not something between 0,5 and 1,5.
(For the newbies, YES, it might appear to be a well kept secret given all the character and pose packs sold in Poserland, but you actually CAN morph your own charcters in Poser and even pose them yourself !) ;-)

Firefly can do a few neat tricks, but its render-times make watching paint dry a breathtaking and exiting pastime.
Maybe I try those "Multiple clothed figures in a scene with all options turned on" Firefly renders when I can afford my own renderfarm.
OTOH, if I could afford my own renderfarm, I might as well buy some professional software instead to get professional results.
Not try to squeeze a hobbyist prog until it breaks. ^-^

BTW, we all know that many people fall for the old "Oh, Shiny" routine and buy "ALL NEW AND IMPROVED" Poser6 instead of the other versions.
So the real point is not who just OWNS Poser 6, but who actually KNOWS, UNDERSTANDS and CAN USE all of Poser6 new gimmicks ?
