Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
P6. I still have P4 and P5 installed though.
There are a lot of things worse than dying, being afraid all the time would be one.
as of post 209 i count (adding to my previous numbers) lumped p4 and pro pack together P4 = 36 p5 = 17 p6 = 138 p4/5 (no clear preference) = 1 p5/6 (no clear preference) = 4 p4/6 (no clear preference) = 9 no clear preference = 3

I still Use P4 Pro Pack.. I have P5 but went back to PP. I just want to render and go... P5 is too slow if you want to do a good quality render, also it messes up transparency's for me, even after the Service packs its still too slow. Also I find the material room too time consuming. Render & Go - (into photoshop)... thats me!! P6 won't work on my PC, I have Windows ME.
Surely if figures and props etc are made for propack then it is easy to make poser 5 and 6 versions just by making different material settings? Surely if figures and props etc are made for poser 5 and 6 then it is easy to make propack versions just by making different material settings? Given that p4/pp people are more likely to be longtime users of poser they are more likely to know what to change and how to change it. see also: thread by SAMS3D "Next question..." for people listing other issues they have with p4/pp versions of figures and props

I use Poser Pro Pack...with no plans to upgrade since it does everything I want. It is comparatively fast rendering and is easy to use.
I know it's a dinosaur! LOL!
My heart sinks every time I see another item in the Poser stores that is "for Poser 5/6" only or have that phrase "Optimized for Poser 5/6" {shudders}

Poser 6 uses some strange new joint set up so some things made to work in poser 6 wont work in poser 4 I was not aware of that....interesting.

And to add to that - Should creators hold back on their creativity or release a sub standard version of a product for the sake of a 6 year old application? Honestly the difference in material settings from PP to P5 & P6 is like chalk and cheese

I mainly use P4 because I mainly do 3-D on my laptop, which is still running Windows ME. Although I have both 5 & 6 on my home computer, I rarely use them as I never get to work on 3-D stuff at home. :-( In my old job, I used P5 for a bit. I also have Shade 7 LE, but I have yet to learn it or use it. Maybe when I get a new laptop.
