Subject: Quick question about Vue d'Esprit

tradivoro ( ) posted Mon, 19 March 2001 at 9:28 AM ยท edited Wed, 05 February 2025 at 1:44 AM

Hi there, I'm mostly a Bryce user, but have recently discovered Vue d'Esprit and I really like the look of the landscapes, particularly the skies... Anyway, I've come accross someone who is selling a used copy of Vue d'Esprit... This si not a crack or anything, just someone bought it for funa and never really used it... However, they've lost the manual... So, my question is, if I don't have the manual, is it really going to be difficult to figure out Vue d'Esprit, if you're really good at Bryce, or do they have tutorials in the program that you can follow... Even though the guy is selling it really cheap, if I really can't learn it it's not worth it... So, any info appreciated... thanks...

Vue is as good as Bryce wanna be. Even with the manual, there is much left to be exploited. I for one don't really read the manual but have to when need too ;) Anyway, since you mentioned that its original and you are ready to part with your $$s, get it and you have to register with Vue anyway, otherwise, you would not be able to get the rest of the other wonderful vegetation. Since you are there, let Steve Bell know how you got it and purchase a replacement manual. No regret adding Vue to your Bryce. Bill

Thanks... that's definitely a help in considering this purchase...

I'll just add this to what Bill said...you can't go wrong with getting Vue. The interface is very intuitive, so you'll be able to jump right in before you have a manual. To obtain a replacement manual will be helpful, though, because there are a lot of very helpful tips and bits of info in there. Registering asap will also grant you support for any problems you run into, plus discounts for upgrades. And version 4 is due sometime this summer! :) Varian -- Treasures d'Esprit

Thank you Varian... You know, I've always been my own tech support, since i've found most tech support in the past to be lacking in many softwares... :) But yeah, I'm sure that there is in depth info there... Although, having looked at quite a bit of the tutorials, if you've worked with the terrain editor in bryce for a while, understanding that part is pretty easy... I imagine that the lights also have filters, and you have booleans and what have you.... Animation doesn't really matter to me all that much... Importing objects yeah, that's important... Anyway, thanks for the info and I saw your page, you got a great page... :)

Thanks for the comment on my site! I get a lot of fun out of Vue. :) Just wanted to add that Vue also has an excellent online Help. Once you've worked with the program a little bit, the online Help will probably fill your needs as a quick reference when needed. Vue's manual, however, is excellent; the only thing it falls short on is that it doesn't have an index. But it does manage to cover everything without getting so technical as to put a reader to sleep! I'm sure you'll be making images not long after installation. :)

Yeah, I'll post some as soon as I get something nice looking...

Hmmmmm, I thought the serial number was inside the manual. Oh well just make sure you get the number as well.

heyas; you can ask vue about purchasing a used copy. some software licenses state they are non-tranferable, which means people can't give them away or sell them after they purchase them. which kinda sucks.

Hey, thanks for the heads up about the serial... If it's in the manual, we got a problem... :) And yeah, I really don't care if vue likes this being sold again afterwards... At some point, these software companies have to grow up... :)
