I just noticed a newer 5.09 build posted. Anyone tried out this latest build? Wondering how stable it is...MG

Hey there Mark! I've become a gutless wonder, so also would like to hear from the land of the brave. Been happy with the last 5.09 build, so maybe I should take the leap? ;-) Decisions... decisions...

Hey Dig! Yeah, I'm still suffering from shell shock after my hard drive blew up on me! Looks like everyone else is waiting for someone to take the first plunge too. Be a hero and go for it! MG

Okay, just for Mark, I decided to be brave. Actually, it wasn't hard... since I found the previous beta build of 5.09 to be the best build yet. Can't say as I've given this new beta much of a test, tho. Opened a scene I started in the previous beta, and just finished it. That only involved replacing a Poser6 figure, and adjusting a few settings. (I should note we're talking about V5I, here, in case anyone's wondering.) What I'm happy about with 5.09 in general, is that it seems to handle memory better... at least in terms of imported polygons (mostly Xfrog and Poser polygons). My current scene has 2.2 million imported polys. In build 5.08 I couldn't get much further than 1.6 mil. In earlier versions, 1.1 - 1.2 mil seemed to be my limit. Actually closing in on what I used to import with Vue4. ;-) I don't know how to measure the impact of texture maps, so can't speak to that side of Vue's memory capacity. I hope that side increased too, since I have a big test coming up in a week of two. :-0

It works well for me but I only tested a few things.

Great news, Dig! Thanks for being a hero! Hope you enjoy the job you have coming up...MG

The bugs I found in the previous build are still in this build, ie. custom veg files not rendering, material previews not always updating when using mixed materials, etc Cheers
