Subject: Can anyone help me with Voyager Knights?

ninv22002 ( ) posted Sat, 14 January 2006 at 3:56 PM ยท edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 5:31 AM

I am completely new to using poser, I recently bought poser 6, Victoria 3 and the voyager knights package. Now how do I get Victoria 3 to look like Jeri Ryan in the voyager knights package? I know this is a difficult question, and I have sent an email to orion1167 (no response as of yet), but I was wondering if anyone here has had experience with this particular situation. I know I am supposed to do some sort of injections, also I think that the voyager knights package is missing some important files. Thanks in advance for any help.

Im advising off the top of my head without checking on the product, but im pretty sure I know the issue. The majority of the characters (celebrity lookalike, or just a change of the default face & body) are achieving thier form by use of combinations of the head morphs and body morphs from DAZ for thier M3, V3, David, Stephanie, Freak etc. Usually you will see a product requirements near the top of the products that will mention "DAZ head and body morphs required" or something similar. In some cases, a char morph will be done entirely with magnets or non-DAZ morphing programs and can be used as is. If you have the head and body morphs for V3 from DAZ installed, then the process of creating the Knight character would be: 1) from Figures>DAZ People import V3 2) from Poses>voyager knights with V3 body selected, click on the INJ head, INJ body (could be a INJ full that does both in one step, but seperates let you mix and match char bodies and heads) and the chars MAT (skintone) You should see the default V3 change dramatically to the new char if your morphs are all properly installed. Hope this helps, Logan

Very easy really.

Here is a tutorial on how to do a very basic scene from getting the figure into the pose window, adding hair, clothing and rendering. It was made for Poser 5, but it's the same principal in Poser 6. Read through the tutorial first:

Basically the steps are:

  1. Open poser
  2. Click on the James figure, hit "delete" key to delete him from the scene.
  3. Open the library on the right, find your "Figures" folder, and look for the "DAZ People" folder. Find V3 in there.
  4. Left click ONCE on V3, look to the bottom of the library and click the DOUBLE checkmark to add her to the pose window
  5. Go back to the library again, find the "Pose" folder. In there look for the Voyager Knights folder/files. Once you find them, left click on the "HEAD/BODY INJ" icon, then go to the bottom of the library again. This time click the single checkmark to add the morphs (those change the shape of the face and body).
  6. After you have the morphs injected, scroll down in the voyager knights files and apply the "MAT", which is the skin texture. You do that the same way you did the INJ stuff.

I don't have that particular package, but if there are eye colours or lip colours or nail colours or body skins, you can apply those the same way as you did the INJ and MAT.... left click once and use the single checkmark to apply it.

EDIT: Oops, cross posted, hehe

Just checked on the package: "This Product contains NO Merchant resource packages or Textures. All of the Texture product is 100% crafted and developed by Orion1167. All Licenses are on file. Remember...Victoria 3 (Free), and Victoria 3 head and body morph packages are required for use with this product." link above is to the DAZ V3 head&body morphs bundle, saves you $10 off buying em seperately

It didn't even cross my mind that he might not have the head or body morphs.

He very well may, and it was an install glitch, but I still recall when I first started using the program and had to be told all about retail morph packs so I figured it was a worthwhile troubleshoot :)

Very true. When I first got Poser and would look at Daz's store and saw "requirements"... I thought I had to have all that stuff listed in order to use the package. Some had long lists of all different characters, a ton of clothing parts etc. I didn't know about that things were character specific. Was very confusing.

Hi ninv, Sorry for delay in getting back to you. Family holidays isnt quite up for me so Im glad I was bouncing over to the Poser forum tonight and saw this. On Voyager Knights, yes she requires Victoria 3 bas, head and body packages to be installed. Once set up, load V3, than go to your Votager Knights Pose file and start at the top and work your way down. Usually the morphs are first, than the mats. If you get any kind of errors, its because one of the base V3 packages may be incorrectly installed or not installed at all. Once set up, if you need additional information on setting up lights or using the P5 Mat Poses, just send me an instant message or email. Ill go from there with you. Sorry again for any dealy. Let me know if you need any help or have any questions. Sincerely Chris~

Bah, stop apologizing!!! No need. You have a life outside of Poser, and that's nothing to be apologetic for :)

p.s.: The Holodeck in my pic is almost done. Just need to "poserize" it. Should go public by end of January. :-)

Thanks for the help, I think that I am missing some of the Victoria 3 files, because every time I load the voyager knights body injections poser prompts me to locate some obscure files, Ex"InjDeltas.PBMAreolaBig.pz2". I did a file search through the whole poser director, and it finds nothing related to this file. I click cancel and it asks me for a number of other files which I do not have. The Victoria 3 package I used was a self install package. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I believe that I have followed all your steps. Anyways you all have been a great help and orion1167 this will be a solid package I am sure.

You aren't doing anything wrong. The problem is that you have V3 base, but not the head and body morphs. The V3 package you have is self install.... all Daz products are. However, V3 comes as a "base" package.

In order for a figure to be fully functional so that you can use character adddons (like Voyager Knights), or give V3 a different shape to her face/head, body, you need to have the morph packages as well.

Once you get and install the items at the link that logansfury posted (reposted here), you will be able to use Voyager Knights and any other V3 character addon that has morphs, without any problem :)
