Subject: Just what is the point of posting this review?

zulu9812 ( ) posted Sun, 15 January 2006 at 12:42 PM ยท edited Mon, 13 January 2025 at 2:12 PM

Just came across this review for a product in the marketplace:

"I have not got it yet, but ni know i will like it lol"

Why on earth do people do that? Quite apart from the fact that if they haven't got the product yet they shouldn't be able to post a review at all, that kind of comment is completely useless and uninformative.

That's very odd...I didn't think you could post without actually purchasing the item.

New customers have to wait until their card is verifed before they can download. Look in the store FAQ... http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12374&FAQ=Y

Okay, but why would you post a review before you've even downloaded the product?

Didn't know you could do that. I was under the (mistaken, so it seems) belief that you could not post a review until you actually shelled out the ackers.

Maybe the person bought it and was just so excited, they couldn't wait to download before posting their comments. Stranger things have happened. And I've done some of them. :/

sam- thought the same myself. dialyn - true. I wouldn't complain if someone leaves a nice review on my products before they get or use them :)

But it does a disservice to other potential customers...

"But it does a disservice to other potential customers... " Well, actually, the person was honest about not having tried the item yet. I doubt if anyone would give much weight to that kind of review. But I doubt if the merchant was thrilled since you might think (unfairly) this was a friend posting enthusiasm as opposed to a customer that had tried the item and really like it. Let's be honest...do we trust all the reviews we read?

Dear zulu9812, You are very naive or clean hearted. You would be amazed if you see the amount of packs which get 5 reviews (Cause that is the magic number you need for having the STARS displayed) within 5 minutes of release. The funny thing is, you don't even get to see a 6th review for the same item a month later. Ohh well, I think some people have different ways of practising business. As for that example you gave, I truly don't think that anyone should be leaving a review before making atleast 7-8 different renders with a product, fortget about leaving a review for something which they haven't even downloaded yet. Cheers, Umut.
