Subject: Really...what do you LIKE about the new store

cliff-dweller ( ) posted Tue, 17 January 2006 at 1:07 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 2:23 PM

There's a quote in one of the other threads from the Community Manager (is that Stacey??):

"We are receiving lots and lots of positive feedback through IM's, emails, phone calls and forum posts"

Now, I've read most of the forum entries about the new store and while there are a few positive remarks, the overwhelming number are negative or VERY negative. And it's not the same 15 people with the same complaints...there are "lots and lots" of different people chiming in.

Now, I know that we tend to mostly gripe in the forums, so that might explain why the people who like the new store are not voicing their feelings in the forums much. But it sounds as if there are many, many people who love the new layout.

So, I really want to hear from people who like the new store format:

  • What is BETTER than before?
  • What are the new features that enhance shopping now?
  • What is it about the new design that makes it easier to read & navigate?

I think I've only noticed the lost functionality (wishlist, sale prices & dates, reviews missing, extra login, etc, etc). I'd REALLY like to focus on the positive changes because I guess I'm blind to them at this point and I'd like to hear what they are so I can balance those against what I feel has been lost.

Thanks!

"We are receiving lots and lots of positive feedback through IM's, emails, phone calls and forum posts" Hehe. That's pretty hard to believe. Sounds like a canned spiel to me ;) All of us in business have to be careful not to "win the argument and lose the sale". We're all guilty of it sometimes though. Problem is, a lot of people won't bother to argue, and they also won't buy.

lots of people are complaining... I didn't see much positive feedback..:-( What can i say..it was better and easier before...

It's probably going to save me money. I guess I like that part? ;)

Focusing in on the postive aspects of the new market place will really cut down on some typing time for me! I will say that compared to the galleries, the speed is quite a bit better as images actually display within one minute! Laffs Other than that, the functionality has diminished and so many features are missing that really made it convenient before the change. Hopefully they will be implemented in time after stabilization, but we shall see within the next few weeks. What I'm nervous about is the change over in the galleries. I can just see everyone's comments deleted because they couldn't transfer all of it over to the new upgrade. But I digress...

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic AT ALL when I started this thread. I'm being quite sincere!

Isn't there ANYBODY who has read this who likes the new layout and can point me to what some of the improvements are?? I'm more interested in the "customer" side of things rather than the "merchant" side...since I'm not a merchant, I'm just a customer.

If you don't like to post anything in the forums, you can IM me or email me.

Thanks!

Hehehe...well, I've pledged to keep my yap shut about the speed of the galleries!! LOL! But yes, the store is faster than that "other" part of the site...but I think it had been so before the new layout went live.

I like that they're already adding back in old features. Can't be too hard to add back in more of the old features.

I am now trying to buy something and I realise I cannot locate my PUBLIC wish list. I must be blind or something....

I DO like the alphabetical listing of all my previous purchases. I don't remember if that was available as a format choice before.

originalkitten ( ) posted Tue, 17 January 2006 at 6:47 PM

it's all mixed in with your private one..... a feature I HATE!

I don't like anything about the new marketplace. It SUCKS!

"I DO like the alphabetical listing of all my previous purchases. I don't remember if that was available as a format choice before." jjsemp, thank you...I hadn't noticed that new feature. I wonder if they can make it so that you can choose a sort method...by date (like it used to be), maybe by vendor, too. Still, I think this might make it easier to find something previously purchased, especially for people with a really long purchase history.

Wow, I didn't even notice the lack of reviews. I think this is a mistke, I always shopped here BECAUSE of the pror feedback. I do hope they bring this back. Other than that, the layout doesn't bother me. That much ;-)

I've been told by one of the admins that the prior feedback is going to be back on the product pages very soon! {fingers crossed}

What do I like about it? Hmmmm. I can't name anything; however, I'm thinking Daz and others might have a few.

The side menu showing links to customer service etc is nice, but it replaced the "other items by this merchant", which isn't nice. The side menu could have been added without destroying the MP. Other than the side menu, I don't like it at all.

OK. While there are quite a few things I HATE (The missing "other products by this merchant" and the feedback and the general ads that made me click and buy stuff... uhm.. perhaps that's a good thing really...), there's also some improvements. I like that clicking a merchant's name under a thumbnail now takes me to that person't store instead of "homepage." I like the layout change with the large picture on top. Actually, as a whole, I like the layout. And I don't mind that all links aren't buttons. Buttons take time to load, buttons can't be translated (anyone ever tried to download from the japanese sites with Babelfish? SOOO NICE if there are only japanese buttons to click...) and - depending on how it's coded, text links can be displayed in different sizes, to help people with poor vision (amazing how many people with poor vision that does digital art) I don't mind the side bar on the left. I would prefer if I could move it to the right like on the rest of the site, but that's a minor thing to me. I like that the What's New page now displays more pictures. And I like the speed increase. They've already changed a lot of the things people were ranting about yesterday. Give them a few more days, and I think the last kinks will be ironed out. Of course, until the WHOLE site is migrated to 3.0, there will still be things that doesn't work, so I hope for a migration SOONISH! When was that date again?

New store? Did I miss something? Doesn't seem that new to me at all? "We are receiving lots and lots of positive feedback through IM's, emails, phone calls and forum posts" Just as much positive feedback as they do get for the forum perhaps?

Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

I like that the wishlist and purchase list now make sense whereas before they seemed to be sorted in a haphazard order.

Thetis ( ) posted Thu, 19 January 2006 at 8:27 AM

Which store? Sorry, couldn't resist. Am a bit angry because I wanted to purchase the items I put some days ago into my cart. And now the cart is empty and I'm not keen on searching and wondering which items exactly were that. At least I will save some money...
