hi seems to be coming along:) one thing you might want to look at is the width setting you have got. I'm using 1024x768 monitor settings and need to scroll horizontally. This is generally best avoided. I've been designing web stes for quite a while now and fell into this trap myself a few times. I generall use a table no bigger than 800 pixels wide and fit things into that (actually I tend to use a bit less than 800) this will prevent this on anything but a really small monitor.
BecSchm, Thanks. artbyphil, I've been trying out various widths and really don't like the tiny 770 wide I had it to begin with, I went for the width it is now as it fitted my own screen, but I dare say I could pull the sides in a bit without too much anguish, but I'll wait a while to see what others say about it... dadt, Thanks, I was a bit concerned as yesterday all I got when I tried it was a load of useless text, I'm glad to know I managed to fix it okay. (Ian figured it out after half a day spent hunting the googles for tips.) marcfx, What! Still not done your BusShelter??? Bad marks for bad marc. I still want to see what you make of it, you know. Thanks to Drac for the suggestions for where to go for webhosting.

Congrats Fran! I'm looking at your site on my laptop screen and yeah, you do have to scroll a bit. The bus shelter graphic(very nice job on the finished model BTW) overlaps some of the small text as does the larger text "3D Creations". I agree with Artbyphil that most web designers/teachers recommend 800 wide. Thats the hard part of being a web designer, always having to design to the lowest common denominator. Mind you, I'm not knocking your efforts, just giving you feedback on how it appears on my little "lappie".
I have no overlapping text, but it's annoying to have to scroll sidewards.. The text on the "related sites"-page is hard to read though, it's not very clear and too tight or small. The links look clickable, but they're not..?

I had a quick look and it's just fine on AOL.

And in my final hours - I would cling rather to the tattooed hand of kindness - than the unblemished hand of hate...
I've reduced the width a bit, is it better now? I'll take another look at the front page - didn't realise that was happening - but I'm using a higher version of the webcreation software now, plus I've moved things about a bit - so I'm wondering if there's still a problem? The related sites are not clickable??? I thought they were, thanks I'll look into that. (Plus I'll change the text size) I'd also like some help with the GACC page, now this is a bit more complex, since here I'm not talking design or layout so much but I need to make this page funny, or at least amusing enough so that it doesn't come across too fiercely. I'm having difficulty with this aspect since I get very cross about Coriander use these days it makes me gag. So I wanted to get the message across but have some fun with it. I may shift this page (as it's so different) to another website, like the space I got free with broadband if I can ever figure out how to do that) or I may not... Just thought I'd ask, I know it's not especially Bryceish, but there are such clever people in here, (besides, it's my home.)

Being on dial-up, that background takes a long time to download - I'd say either get rid of it or figure out one that tiles. I have had a lot of the same troubles last year when I set up a site for downloads ets. I trashed everything when I went offline for a while but the site's still there so I guess I'll work on that some after I figure out a free Firewall that works with my eithernet (home network.) Right now I'm using Outpost which trashed the lan which is ironic because they say that they just teamed up with N-Link. Zone Alarm seems the best so far but it trashed my lan too. I'm gonna try COMINO next. Anyrate good luck with your site, - TJ
I was wondering about tiling the background pic - but does it matter so much? I mean I tried picking a background colour so that you could still see text etc even while waiting for the background image to load. I guess that doesn't work as well as I'd hoped then... pity. Good luck with your firewall search. I use ZoneAlarm Pro myself. Haven't had a problem with it so far.

I found one I think I like. Sunbelt something or other. It checks everything as far as I can tell and is compatable with my home network. And a big plus is that it's only $15.00 to register. Zone alarm pro would be nice too . . . I really liked the free version and if it hadn't of trashed my LAN I'd probably be using it. As to tiling - well it takes over a minute for me to load. And as the Background seems to be on every page that's minutes lost each time a dinosaur like me with dialup goes to your site. Mine was the same way I had a lot of negative comments about that (and my cover page.) From what I could tell your site otherwise runs clean. It looks very nice and uncluttered in most ways very professional looking. Well I gotta go cook dinner - and celebrate getting my lan and internet access back!!! Take care, - TJ
Well, I'm a bit confused so far over the instructions on how to tile on the serif forum, so I've asked again for clarification... we'll see... (it's not in the manual)

Sorry I haven't responded I been busy with things an installing the infamous XP sp2. It looks like it may be worth it though - I'm curious about the built in Firewall and Anti-virus protection. Anyrate you still have problems with tiling if I don't get back to you within a week remind me and I'll try to find the references I made to it. I know they're around here somewhere - right now my computer's or I should say computers are a bigger mess than my bedroom.
XP SP2!!! Arrrgghhh!!! The only way I got that to work was by buying a new laptop with it already installed. Otherwise it melts computers... I'm still hoping to be able to try tiling that image... sometime.

If anyone would like to take a look. At long last - I have a website. I've managed to get a few freebies on the site as well, not sure if they download okay or not. If anyone has any constructive comments to make I'd be happy to pass them onto my husband who has solved most of my website problems. Lol! Thanks also to Alfred Pauson from the Serif Forum who has also help me a lot with this site. (I use Serif's WebPlus6 and now 7 to design, manage and upload the site).
