Subject: Having to log in to view an individual artist gallery link ?

Is this new policy or just a server problem ? If policy then it's a particularly silly idea - you can't expect every person your participating artists want to view their work to have to join before viewing it !

Its been a while...but I believe you can still link to a specific picture, and have anyone look at it. (without being a member and/or without being logged in) Like this; http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=1132788&Start=1&Artist=MakinMagic&ByArtist=Yes Allowing the gallery to be too "wide open" would make it vulnerable to leechers and such. Unfortunate, but true. AgentSmith

Great - so what on earth is the point of using my Renderosity gallery URL on my other website presence/s for the general public to view my work ? People DO NOT LIKE using a link then being expected to login !!! THIS WILL ACTUALLY PUT PEOPLE OFF VISITING ANY OF MY SITES OR VIEWING MY WORK. Now I'd have to put up a link URL for every single image in my gallery ???? Also if I remember correctly, won't the link for an individual image change every time I add a new one to my gallery making that idea useless anyway ? There is a simple solution: Add a routine to allow people to login as "Guest" with a run-time generated graphical password displayed for entry. This would solve the "leeching" problem but still allow the general public some sort of access as a guest - eg. to view artists' personal galleries :-)

Looks like peronal gallery links are working again ? Anyway if the "leeching" problem is exarcerbated by allowing access without login then I think my idea of a "guest" login with a runtime-generated graphical password to enter would get around the problem - in fact if the problem exists in such a way that a malicious person having a username and password combo and using them in a robot program or whatever then an extra graphical password for normal login would solve that problem too.

That is wierd. I'm sure you were right, and the links were not working. But now they are working as they should, I just tried it myself (not logged in) taking a link to my main gallery and also to an individual pic, everything is as it should be. OOoooo...I like that idea of yours. Sounds like something like that would be possible after more PHP switchovers. VERY good suggestion, thanks! AgentSmith
