Is there a way to add glitter/sparkles to a layer..Perhaps a plugin or tut is available? I really just want silver glitter that shines so I can use it as the 2nd layer of various layers.

I have done things like that with a combination of the 'dissolve' layer blend mode and noise. In short: - It is best to start on a larger canvas than your end size, because we are working with pixels. If you use 1 on 1 size, your glitter will never be finer than 1 pixel (see my try), it looks better when scaled back - Paint or paste the form you want the glitter to have in it's own layer. Dissolve only works on partly transparant pixels. If you want your glitter to be see-through everywhere, you need your layer to be less than 100%. Blurring is also needed - Set the blend mode to dissolve (you will get something we will call a 'preview' for now, you will see). You can play with the layer opacity to control the spreading of the glitter (you can also use this approach for snow or dust) - The trick that lets you do something with the result (like set the blend mode to overlay or something) is to create an empty layer, link that layer with your 'glitter' layer. And choose 'merge linked layers' in the palet menu. - Now you see what the result of the 'preview' is. A much finer glitter/dust. - The layer blend mode of the merged layers is now normal, the dissolve effect has now become real pixels. - Use noise on that layer to break it up. - Try different blend modes - Or start all over again because you now see what you have been doing and want the glitter to be somewhere else. Or more. Or less. I put the glitter on my name by selecting the lightest color in some kind of fast layer effect thingy and filling the new layer with that. You could also select the type (control-click on the layer), shrink it and fill a layer with that result. A lot is possible! If you want snow, you can start by painting it on top of the letters. Hope this provides some inspiration!

I'm gonna have to try this. No matter what I do I can't seem to get my glitter to shine.

She doesn't a speck of glitter to shine! Aside from a label here and there, there is nothing to photoshop on her! This is the picture i see everytime I close Photoshop (or InDesign or Illustrator or Carrara), my desktop makes me smile!

Well.. Now I've tried both ways & mine sure didn't look like either of these. Too embarassing to post!! Guess I just wasn't meant to be a glittery type person.

Thanks to all of you...Keep the glitter I'll just look at that natural version...So cute...Ok..Im going to try both of these...What I want is one layer to be red (any color) and the next layer to be the "Silver" glitter so I can use it as a car paint... Richard
