Subject: A Walk Designer Question

ttheterr ( ) posted Wed, 18 January 2006 at 2:10 PM · edited Wed, 27 November 2024 at 2:24 AM

Helloooo - here I am trying to figure out how to manipulate the walk designer to do what I WANT! Here're are two questions:

Ex 1: I'd like to have my character walk/run and come to a STOP in the same sequence. Is it possiblt to make the character STOP before the end of the walkpath? As in, a character walks down a hallway and into a room where he stops in his tracks (as if he sees something)

Ex 2: How can I get my character to walk > pause > walk? What I mean is, let's say you're walking down the street - you pass a store window with the playstation 3 in the window - you stop, LOOK, then continue walking.

Are either of these things possible using the walk designer/path? Or would I need to use cut scenes between the character walking then stopping. (I ask this because that walk path is pretty long with the figure usually walking offscreen - I'm only looking for 10 maybe 15 steps max.) THANKS (and yes, I'm a rookie)

you will have to go to the walk designer a couple of times but yeah it is possible but you will definatly have to do some hand editing in the editor.

here is a sample mov walk designer (or walk pose) then advanced to frame 35 and added a static pose little movements til frame 70 then walk from frame 70 to 100 You are going to have to right click that and save it as a .mov :)

Oh yes, this is good. Can't wait to get home so I can play around with this tonight! (it's a shame I'm on this Poser board when I should be working but... what can I say?? :o) THANKS!

OK I think I spoke too soon - I'm tanking over here! This is what I'm doing (let me know if it's completely wrong) * create a walk path/apply walk * stop on 30th frame/add static pose * click one frame forward, add same static pose etc. Two things are happening, either: a. my figure slides all over the place while in static pose because the "walking" is moving him forward. b. if I keep pulling the figure back to the original spot of the first static pose, when he starts walking again he SLIDES forward about a body length to continue on from where he would have been if he'd kept walking... what gives?? At this point I'd just be happy to have him come to a graceful STOP. (instead of jerking from walking into the static pose! whew.. go poser eh? Help please?? Thanks!

To stop the sliding you could use my WalkThisWayV2 script. (V2 doesn't stand for Victoria 2, it's version 2 of the script). What you can do with the walk designer: - create a walk path that ends where you want to have your figure stop; - run the Walk Designer, make use of the option to have your figure transform to the "end pose"; - make the animation longer (a higher number in the animation bar at the bottom of the scree). - create a second walk path, starting on the position where your figure is right now; - run the Walk Designer again, and make sure the start frame is the current end of your animation. That should do it. To prevent sliding feet, run the WahkTHisWayV2 script AFTER you've finished using the Walk Designer.
