Wow..that is innovative use of current technology. I suspect many would dismiss the idea out of hand. I have used the scanner in normal fashion to "photograph" gemstones like opal and it works well for that. Also, the lady who does advertising layout for our business uses a scanner and a white towel to "photograph" some items of jewelry for newspaper ads. To use a scanner for a large object at a distance is something I simply thought not worth considering in the first place. I am surprised.
Wow, that is Fing Brilliant! I'd love to try that out. (grabs some duct tape) That Mike is quite innovative, to be sure. Thanks for sharing this!

Y'know YOU'VE been around Render WAAAY too long when you can remember similiar postings/threads from YEARS ago! (and then actually find them!) (DOH!)Great find Joe - I have trouble finding things I just put down. Looks like some have been toying with this idea for a while now. I know you can get digital scan backs for high end repro and product photography but I had not heard of anyone using a desktop scanner before. Now all I need is Audi to pay for my experiments :D
And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies
live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to
sea in a Sieve.
