Faveral are there any prefab poses included - it doesn't say on the product page? I'm probably not the only one who hates constructing things in poser. The sample pictures of all the buildings are amazing and that castle up top is to die for but I don't want to build them!

I've dropped it into the wishlist. Looks great, and this can't be as tricky to assemble as the Goblin King's castle in Labyrinth! Carolly

faveral ( ) posted Fri, 13 January 2006 at 3:39 PM

There aren't any pre-assembled poses included. However, posing the castle is relatively easy. It took me about 10 minutes to assemble the castle above. Maybe someone will come up with a pack of ready-to-use castles... That would be a great idea!

do the gates open? drawbridges raise, etc? looks might nice... can't wait for the mid evil stuff

Looks great.... I would love the know the following details before getting it. 1. Texture sizes 2. Polycount of some of the items included 3. How long did it take to render the complete caste. 4. Does a complete caste take up lot's of memory or does it take only a little? Thanks!

I'll try to answer your question the best I can... First of all , the textures are all tiles. The castle itself (outside of the moat and little props like the well) only uses 8 tiles. (Makes it real easy when you want to re-texture!) The biggest texture size for the castle, is the wall tile: 3000x3000, all the others are less than 700x700. (The moat also requires large textures, in the 2000x2000) The polycount for each part is relatively low. The highest count is for the drawbridge on the right in the picture above: 32k. The other parts average around 10k. The pictures above were all renedered in Poser Pro Pack in less than a minute. There is no such thing as a complete castle, really... You can make it as big or as small as you want. Just use the parts that are gonna be visible in your scene. Because all the parts use the same 8 texture tiles, the memory usage for the texture is about the same wether you load just one part or the whole set. So I would say, it's pretty light. I hope this answers your question.

I purchased it yesterday! Congratulation for this great work. I am so happy with it. so much probs and so much possibilitys!

aeilkema ( ) posted Sat, 21 January 2006 at 7:12 AM

Finally did get it. I've really got mixed feelings about this...... The set itself is great, but the lack of support for poser 5 & 6 suprises me a lot. This product only has Poser 4 & Pro Pack support. It's almost as if this product has been designed in the middle ages.... this 2006 where Poser 6 rules and P4 & PP are getting less and less used. I'm going to have to do quite some tweaking to get the result as shown in the promo images, that dissapoints me a lot. The result with the set used as is are very unacceptable in P6.

Check the Medieval city thread over at DAZ and you'll find all of the problems with the Castle Creator and a number of not so satisfied customers ready to return the product.
