Hi all, Just look at him.. isn't he super. He's much quicker to use than the latest DAZ figures.. .. and he's got more legs too!

Regards, Gerald.

PS.. And of course he's free.. why?.. because you're worth it.. ha ha ha ... must fly!

ROFL! It's a great-looking model.

But flies for Christmas? Gee, I thought you guys didn't have any flies across the pond (let alone in the middle of winter). I once asked why British homes never have screens in the windows, and was told it's because you don't have any bugs over there.

That's great!! Thank you:)

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

from what I hear, 80F is considered a heat wave over there..over here, we call it 'spring'..;) Screen doors are a Southern institution, along with holes for the flies to get in..;)
btw..I see a certain resemblance to Jeff Goldblum..;)

along with holes for the flies to get in..;) That's true but then we sit in front of the door or window, waiting with a flyswaper in our hand for those poor flies to pass through the holes! ;o) P.S. Do you at least have fly swapers in Britain???

According to Aristotle the fly must have four legs...

Stupidity also evolves!

spedler ( ) posted Sat, 21 January 2006 at 1:32 PM

Fly swats are old hat now. Latest thing I saw was a fly gun. It's basically a perforated disk which you push into the barrel of the 'gun' where it compresses a spring. Pull the trigger and the disk flies out and nails the fly. The disk moves so fast the fly can't evade. The advantages are that the fly doesn't get squashed flat and make a nasty smear that you have to clean up. Also, though I hate to say it, it is quite fun! (So it'll probably be banned soon, the way things are going here.)

But.. you'll be hunting flys.. And considering the amount of nasty germs those li'l buggers carry around, that is a GOOD thing... Thanks, Geralday. You always come up with the coolest things!

Looks great. Talking of heat wave in Southern Australia we are having one. It got to 45 C yesterday, much the same today. Even the flys had to escape the heat.

WEll here in sunny queensland it's cloudy and cool. The flies are quite happy here. Love esther

I'm serious - they don't have window screens in the UK. I found it quite odd, but a couple of my British friends swear that they don't have any bugs so they don't need screens.

Window screens have been standard equipment in U.S. houses for generations, so I don't think it's that the U.K is behind the times or anything. Unless they're centuries behind the times, which they sure didn't seem to be when I've been there. :)

pakled ( ) posted Sat, 21 January 2006 at 8:16 PM

flies are one thing, mosquitos, another. We have 2 sizes, the kind that fly through screen doors, and the kind that open them..;)
Actually, Florida is bug heaven..you can't leave a drink alone for more than a minute without various bits of 'protein' landing and dying in it..;)
Ernyoak1, you should do a package deal on this..maybe Gerald Day's next model could be a squashed morph..;)

geralday, that is so cute (never thought I'd say that about a fly...).
It will go well in my horse stable.

Today we have very few flies around. Temperature is -30C (-22F) here far north in Sweden.
In the summer we have lots of the mosquitos pakled talked about. If you are outside they land and bite in one move.

Foxseelady ( ) posted Sat, 21 January 2006 at 11:21 PM

I'm with Tiny on the cute thing lol. Thank you very much, and ernoyka you are just too mean ;) (said with a smile meant as a funny) Flies would freeze to death here.....it's okay though I promise to let this one stay in from the cold ;)

Odd, but I actually saw a fly a couple of days ago. Indoors of course, since it's -10 C outside right now here in Stockholm.

Here we have flies in summer, but not so many. But mosquitoes.... oh my. Sweden has the world record in mosquito trapping. Last summer they caught over 80000 of the little buggers in a single trap in a single night, about 150 km from here. Eek! In South Africa, where I originally come from, the flies just get faster the hotter it gets. The worst I've experienced was 47 C (about 115 F) and they just go even faster.
