Do me a favor. Check out the poetry on my site by Kayla Marie Weihrauch. She's 13 and my niece. I am very direct with her about her writing, but I post what she writes---exactly as she writes it. Let me know what you think, being totally honest so that I can pass on the input to her. She honestly wishes to be a writer. I encourage that. It is a childs view, but be honest. That is how I have told her to view any criticism. Choose one of her poems at the list please.

I like that she thinks about things and writes them in ways that make us think, too. Most poetry I don't understand. But hers I do.

has she been hurt recently? seems she is struggling thru teenage emotions. tell her to take up literature and literary courses.. that can tap her talents.if she's already writing at her age.. then she may have it in her. like your ocean front...

Without a doubt, she's very talented and her poetry is a fascinating read. I agree with erosiaart, she would like to get more involved with reading and writing. As for the poetry itself, it'll keep retaining the emo edge to it for a while, but that's her style, I guess.
