Subject: Looking for Mech/Mecha schematics

Magnatude ( ) posted Mon, 16 January 2006 at 7:44 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 4:07 PM

Hey all, I've looked all over the place but cant find any resources to glean from. I'm doing some 3D original mechs that are crossed between Battletech and Heavy Gear. Anyone have a good schematic sites on these giant manned robots?

I've scanned the net also. I think it's pretty much made up as you go along. All you can do is look at the existing art and watch Japanese anime and go from there. Let your imagination be your guide. ;)

Thanks, I actually found a neat site on Makoto Kobayashi's late 1980's plastic model dioramas which really helped spurr me along. http://aswars.tripod.com/ (its tripod so expect popup ads) A really awesome site and worth the look. The webmaster also has his own models here: http://jukabala.tripod.com/ (again tripod popups) Really kewl stuff. Decided to post these links here just in case someone else is looking for the same kinds of stuff that I was.

I don't usually post in threads like this because I normally have no idea what I'm talking about. But I found a site that I thought might be helpful to either Maqnatude or someone who was interested. Try: http://www.steelfalcon.com/Macross/mmd-faq.shtml It seems to have some pretty good schematic drawings if this is what you want. All I did was type in Schematics for Mecha in Google and there were several sites that looked good. I hope this was helpful.

thanks, yes, there are a lot of references in Google to these Macross/Gundum sites, but there are a lot of more innovative designs/designers out there... which are the ones I'm interested in. Macross and Gundam are the most dominant, but its kewl to find other designs that are both offshoots of this style and broadened into newer designs/ideas. There are a few Japanese designers that dont come up on the search... these are the true gems to find because their new ideas on mecha design are absolutely fantastic In the case of my link above the older designs that never really made it to public eye/ or limited in exposure are refeshing to see. Thanks for posting tho! There are also some good battletech sites too that are easy to find.
