Subject: Export fbx from C5

HAWK999 ( ) posted Sun, 22 January 2006 at 10:42 PM · edited Fri, 31 January 2025 at 12:05 AM

Hi,

I exported a poser figure to fbx brought it and animated in Motionbuilder 6
and brought it back to Carrara 5.
The animation imported great but the textures got lost along the way.
Does C5 export textures to fbx?
I noticed that no textures appeared in MB6 or C4D.

thanks

Jean-Luc

thanks, I was just chequing that. It loses UVs on export/import.
Is there a way to reapply UVs and texturess from the orirginal model once it's imported in C5?

Why not work in .obj or .3ds all the way?(Export/import in all programmes in the more universally accepted formats!)

I guess it's a workflow issue in regards to character animation. Poser obj. are not working good with MB but the C5 fbx export works great except for the UV issue. If I could resolve this problem, I would import poser figures through C5 to MB and import them back toC5 or another app like C4D.

bwtr, seems like that would be a problem with animation. I am having similiar with daz studio and mimic. D|S will export obj all over the place now, but mimic animation which is in pz2, also not carrara supported, is not coming out into carrara via obj. So bang your head on the import/export wall.

No need to think outside the box....
