Attached Link: Into The Woods - Ecosystem and Tutorial

Just in case you'd like to try this out, I've posted this on my website - the zip file is included as well.

Using this ecosystem I have made a number of images, the last one using only a procedural terrain, which turned out like this:

You can find the Tutorial and Ecosystem Zip at the link.

Thanks and I would love to see what you create with it!!

:)

It looks really nice. Thanks a lot.

A very nice simple introduction Irene. I wish more people would take that approach to tutorials. Well done.

Thanks Paula and Surveyman ~ I really appreciate your comments. :) Irene

It looks nice. I've tried your material. I keep getting a error that it can't find TegTreeFull.pz3. Anybody else have a problem with this?

martial ( ) posted Wed, 25 January 2006 at 4:26 AM

Same problem here with TegTreefull.pz3.I don't know what to do with this. Thanks Irish for the tut and vob objects but it will be fine if you know the solution for this missed file

wabe ( ) posted Wed, 25 January 2006 at 6:21 AM

The thing is, the connection to the pz3 file must be destroyed first. You can do that for example by simply ungrouping (and regrouping after if you want to) the item.

When it looks for the Tegtreefull be sure and use the dropdown box when browsing for it to all files and then you will find it in the obj files folder. I kept getting that error untill I say what was happening and it was looking for a pz3. Hope thats not confusing. Its hard to ungroup an item when you can not get it loaded into Vue. :) Maybe Irish can tell us what is best solution to the problem. :)

Attached Link: Updated Ecosystem Zip

My apologies! I have updated the file to reflect that it should be looking for Tegtree.obj instead of the pz3 file. I hope you will still give it a try. If you want to download it again, you can do so in the attached link or above. Again. my sincerest apologies - but, it's still a good ecosystem :) :) Irene

Thanks Irish. That was quick. :)

Well, of course my comment was for the creator of the ecosystem. To give her an idea what to change to make it work.

Thanks for clarifying that wabe, I would have never known by how I read you comment. :)

Would someone be kind enough to check the ecosystem for me again - I have updated it completely; scratched the old ecosystem and saved an entirely new one (for some reason it kept the old info, even though I updated it) so now it SHOULD work but I do need a tester. Thanks so much! :) Irene

martial ( ) posted Wed, 25 January 2006 at 7:11 PM

Thanks Irish.I cannot check right now but i will do it

mikebres ( ) posted Thu, 26 January 2006 at 12:46 AM

Thanks Irish. I tried and tried but I couldn't figure how to get it working. Your setup isn't the same as mine, I don't have Vue in the same folders, Program Files/e-on software/Vue Infinite/etc. So I tried just extracting the sub folders under Vue Infinte. Well they installed but now I can't find the ecosystem material. I've got the ground, grass, and the tree objects; teg-grass, teg-rockpile, and tegtree, But not the ecosystem material. Either that or I'm just confusing myself. It is getting kind of late.

Irish ( ) posted Thu, 26 January 2006 at 6:58 AM

Oh my gosh, is my face RED! In all the redo's I have apparently forgotten to add the most important file, the ecosystem itself!!!!!!!!! I have AGAIN corrected the zip so please download again and while you're at it, give me a swift kick in the derriere. What a learning experience this has been!! I have also changed the path of the files. Sorry about this, honest I am...I am...I am... :) Irene

iloco ( ) posted Thu, 26 January 2006 at 8:03 AM

The last one you uploaded with the missing ecosystem file is still looking for a Tegtree pz3 file when it should be a Tegtree.vob. I can change browser window to all files and broswe to the obj folder and select it and it loads ok. Some little something just not right with a path when its trying to find the Tegtree.vob. Other than that it works as it should.

This is a message for Irish. You should save the items you want to use for the ecosystem as vob first, with the option "including all textures" (have no Vue at hand right now so the words may be wrong). Then use those vobs for the ecosystem. Save the eco as material, again with the same option switched on. Then you should not need anything else than this material to give to others, it contains all necessary information to be used by others. Look at some eco materials that come with Vue for example. The objects used there are not available anywhere else. I think this is a cool option, you don't have to be worried about textures, obj originals or pathnames at all.

Thanks Wabe. I have all the objects used in the ecosystem saved as .vobs. For some reason though, since the tree was originally saved from an object I created into a prop in Poser, and saved as a pz3, it still keeps looking for it instead of the .vob. I redid the ecosystem beginning from scatch, so I am not sure what the problem is. Since the tree is there as a vob, people should just be able to load it into the ecosystem instead but I will try and sort it again. One of the difficulties is that I have various updates on the computer so I need to erase everything and start from the beginning. I guess I am just going to tuck this whole experience under my belt as a good learning one!! :) Irene
