Subject: Why am I getting emails from Rosity telling me items are on sale?

jeffg3 ( ) posted Wed, 25 January 2006 at 11:47 AM · edited Wed, 20 November 2024 at 3:26 AM

Anyone know why I am getting emails from Rosity telling me items from my wish list are on sale? I've never gotten these before - and I really don't want them.

ClintH ( ) posted Wed, 25 January 2006 at 12:16 PM

Hi JeffG, These E-Mails are sent out as a courtesy to the customer to let you know that an item you are interested in has been place on-sale. You will only get one E-Mail for each item that goes on sale. Clint

Thank you for your response, but I would prefer not to get any notification.

Is this a feature of the new store? If so can it be turned off in our account preferences?

Its been in place for a few years and cant be disabled. You can do a few things. Remove the items from your wishlist or set up a filter on your E-Mail client software to filter out these E-Mails. Clint

What about merchants who spam us after we buy something of theirs but don't provide an option for removal from their spam lists? We can certainly set up filters or perhaps simply contact the vendor, but in my opinion this shouldn't be happening in the first place. To take these extra steps is a nuisance. This behavior has backfired in my case. I'll never buy anything from a certain merchant again, because I'm tired of getting two e-mails a month about their latest add-on or unrelated products. The fact that I bought one of his products shouldn't have been seen as solicitation of further advertising. Perhaps we're warned about this contingency somewhere in the RMP, but I haven't seen it.

This has nothing to do with items in the wishlist ... I don't mind those notifications as one might otherwise miss out on the sale of a desired product.

Hi xo, I'm sorry to hear that you are getting spamed after making a purchase. We do frown upon this type of E-Mailing. Those E-Mails must be getting sent my the individual merchants and are not being generated by our systems. If you want to let me know who is doing this I will be more than happy to look into it for you. Thanks for posting. Clint

Thanks much Clint, I appreciate the offer and clarification. I'll contact the merchant on my own; I'm assuming they'll comply. If not I'll let ya know. :-)

Clint you state "Its been in place for a few years and cant be disabled. You can do a few things. Remove the items from your wishlist or set up a filter on your E-Mail client software to filter out these E-Mails." I don't see how this can be correct. I have been a member here for over a year & have NEVER received a notification of a wishlist item going on-sale. I do not want this feature, it is extremely irritating & annoying. I do not have the luxuary of setting up a filter as I use a hotmail account directed to OE & it does not support this feature. I don't see why I have to change my email addy for all my Poser related mail because this marketplace has suddenly decided to SPAM it's members! Basically this is what I would have to do to set up a filter.

"Its been in place for a few years and cant be disabled."

It may have been in place, but was it enabled?

I have been a member here for several years also and have never received these email notifications. To be sure I checked my inbox (which goes back to 2002) and none were present.

I would like to echo Anniebel - these emails are annoying and unwelcome. If we can turn off the newsletter, surely we should be able to turn off these notifications.

The answer basically saying "don't use our service (wishlist) or filter them out yourself" is not good business.

Outlook Express supports filtering. Tools - Message Rules -> Mail We implemented this several years back. I'm not sure why you are all of the sudden noticing or getting the E-Mails now and werent before. These E-Mails are sent out as a courtesy to the customer to let you know that an item you are interested in has been place on-sale. Its assumed your interested in an item when its placed in your wishlist. Clint

"Outlook Express supports filtering." - as I said I have a hotmail account & this feature IS NOT supported with OE. I will just delete everything off my wishlist then & I will no longer use this function.

{quote] Its been in place for a few years and cant be disabled.

Before the recent changes you could disable it. I did.

Months ago I went to my profile and put "NO" next to "Special Offers/Promos" and that stopped the notifications.

However since the recent changes I'm also getting email notifications of sales again, even though I haven't adjusted my profile.

It goes the same here. I haven't changed my account preferences. I have never gotten any emails informing me that my wishlist item(s) were on sale until the new store now. I've been a member for quite a few years. Although it's nice to be notified, it is annoying spam especially when you have quite a few items in your list. Surely there must be some option to turn it off, if not can someone please add that option? It really is the store's responsibility to not spam people, not ours to need to set up our email accounts to filter it out. I would expect R'osity to not have this kind of attitude - "set up your own filters or just deal with it". Then to say that we have just never noticed the emails. As many emails as I have gotten over this past week from my wishlist, you'd think it would be a tad bit hard for them to go unnoticed :P All that needs to be is to set it up so that there is an option to decide whether we want these emails or not. Just like the newsletter. Yeah, I know, more work..but happier customers in the end. Happy Customers=higher endorphins=wanting to spend!! Well..at least for me anyhow rofl.

Have you checked to see if "NO" next to "Special Offers/Promos" is selected? It may very well have been switched to "Yes" inadvertently after the migration. Clint...is the "Special Offers/Promos" feature handled on the store server end? If so..it may have re-set that attribute after the migration of perhaps when they were working on the wish-list. I've never had an item on a wish-list so I've never received one of these notifications before,so I have nothing to compare it to personally. Tom

Yes, I have it set as NO. I would think that the wishlist notifications wouldn't be listed under "Special Offers/Promos" anyhow.

Nope. I went and looked. It still said "NO" and I was still getting notifications since the change. I went and changed it to "YES", and saved, then changed it back to "NO" again, and I'm still getting notifications. The change to the MP messed something up with that feature.

I actually appreciate getting the notifications since half the time I forget what I put on my wish list and the other half of the time I can't afford it until it's on sale. Luckily my e-mail account has a delete button for things I don't want to read and I don't mind taking a few seconds to re-set my junk mail filter when needed.

Anniebel ( ) posted Sat, 28 January 2006 at 1:14 AM

Well I don't appreciate them, I can get on average over 300-400 emails a day, & this just adds to the bulk I have to sort through. If I marked these as junk - every email from renderosity would be classed as junk - so that is not a practical alternative.
