But that defeats the object of the exercise - we want to turn Renderosity into a one-stop-shop. You're going to LOVE the new grocery-and-therapy forum.

Some additional comments: The new show is being handled by Ronald D. Moore, one of the people behind the later Star Trek movies (Generations, First Contact, Insurrection, and possibly Nemesis). Although he can't be blamed for the mess that is Enterprise (sorry, renamed "Star Trek: Enterprise"), he does come from that school. The new show is being directed by Michael Rymer, who also directed Queen of the Damned (the "follow up" to the Interview with a Vampire)... and we all know how well that movie did (it sucked). The new Cyclon ships look familiar... wait! It's the Batwing from the 1989 Batman movie! At least the notes say that this version is self-piloted. I never could get over the fact that it took 3 Cyclons to pilot a ship. What a waste of Centurions! Human Cylons?? That look like hot babes? I don't think so. Weren't the original Cylons supposed to be inhuman killing machines? And it looks like the part of Zak will not be played by soap actor/ singer Rick Springfield. :(

human cylones no cant do it....nope not gonna work. as for queen of the damned..~cringes~ they butchered anne rices work. {still think that queen needed a chiropracter by the way she walked but that is my personal opinion} the cylone ships are batmans ship? guh! no no no this will not do at all...~shakes her head~ I am still traumatized that starbuck is a woman now...

You want to be traumatized even more? Click on the Links page and you can download pdf versions of early drafts of the script. It's been my experience that early drafts are fairly close to the final version, with some changes to dialogue and such. But, most of the plot and story stays the same. So, to recap:

  • Starbuck and Boomer are definitely women.
  • Starbuck and Apollo do not have any kind of romance: Starbuck and Zak (Apollo's younger brother) were involved, but that was it.
  • The Cylons definitely using humans-looking agents.
  • The old Cylons do make an appearance, but don't talk.
  • The ships have been designed (obviously, since there are pictures on the website), but the older Vipers get to fly a lot.
  • The dogfight scenes will use split-screens to show mutiple views at once. This may be a really cool idea (like The Hulk movie) or be very distracting and sucky. Supposedly, there will also be no sound effects since it's silent in space... but the script doesn't really say what sound should or should not be heard.
  • There is no Imperious Leader.
  • Baltar is not "killed" by the Cylons: he was killed in the original BG movie/ TV pilot, but was perfectly fine during his appearances on the series.
  • Caprica (the home planet) is destroyed by conventional nuclear weapons, not a bombing run by Cylon fighters.
  • Mary McDonnell is actually the Secretary of Education when Caprica is bombed. She was 43rd in line for the presidency... and yes, all 42 people above her were killed. (Which is why she's labeled as playing "President Roslin").
  • Boxey makes an appearance, but no Daggit... yet.
  • The crew of the Galactica does not meet up with bee-like creatures who use them as food, unlike the previous BG movie/ TV pilot.
  • Unlike the previous movie/ TV pilot, Adama is not the sole counelmember to think the Cylons don't really want peace. In fact, in this version, no one has heard from the Cylons in years, so there is no talk of a new peace treaty or an ending of a long war. Now, unless the final story is significantly altered, then these can be taken as actual facts... unless the "early draft" scripts are meant to completely mislead people. I sort-of-doubt that, since this is the official script on the official site. You usually only see misleading scripts if they've been "leaked" to fan sites.

What the hell is going on with this split screen crap lately! It was annoying as hell in the Hulk. It was annoying as hell in that Sci-fi dragon movie. It's annoying as hell PERIOD! Whoever invented that god aweful technique should be strung up by the short hairs. And flooged to death with wet noodles. That's worse news than StarBuck being a woman.

Split screen is a bit cack you only have to look at the original thomas crown affair to see that.

Well I like the the new vipers I think they are kinda cool and could be used again in any new film with the old cast or recast doing the series the old way. I know this thread is old but i post to old threads very often, that is what the search feature is for:) and I do use warriors clothes however the helmet prop is mine:)

Well, if this thread is back, I might as well post to it. Having seen - and LOVED - every episode so far, I have to say my original 2.5 years ago guess was completely wrong. The new BSG is the best thing on TV right now, bar none. I know we were all worried about the female Starbuck, but does anybody think she hasn't done an excellent job? Even the humanoid Cylons have been great - and the explanation for how Baltar helped them destroy the Colonies makes so much sense. They've got religions, they've got a true military structure, they've got desperate humans fighting each other, they've even got the Pegasus back in the fight! And they have the very dark tone you'd expect in a show in which a large proportion of the human race was just exterminated. My favorite scene so far is from the miniseries - the little girl on the ship that can't jump - watching her, knowing the Cylons are going to get her - and that music! The new BSG is GREAT!
