Subject: Exporting Bryce Terrains?

ookami ( ) posted Wed, 21 March 2001 at 10:59 AM · edited Wed, 05 February 2025 at 7:51 AM

Is there anyway to export bryce terrains as OBJs? I don't seem to have much success with it.... ok... not ANY success with it...

jade_nyc ( ) posted Wed, 21 March 2001 at 11:03 AM

Ookami - select the terrain you want to support and then go to the File menu - Export Object and choose .obj format. Hope this helps, Jade

That doesn't work for me.... what version are you using? I just got the Corel Bryce 4 becuase my original was destroyed when my basement flooded (DOh!)... I thought CDs were more resilant than that...oh well.

Bryce 4.1 - that's really weird ookami - it should work for you - i'm sure it had that feature even before I used the corel patch. hmmm.... Sorry to hear about the flood, geez I would think the CDs would have survived that too! Jade

I would have thought they would have too... but I'm guessing that the water in the basement combined with chemicals from the carpet or the paint and became corrosive... The WORSE part is... my home owners doesn't cover floods... AHHHHH!! Oh well, I guess I'll re-install everything from the new CD and see if that clears up the problem. Thanks!

I am not surprise that dont works for you, ookami .Same for me After installing the last patch from Corel 4.1(the second one ,for the first one too much people say that we better not use it) i never can export my terrain or use the hidden trick with mesh in obp format(edit and control plus d),Each time i got error message and Bryce 4.1 crash. After I have installed again from the original cd of Bryce 4 from Metacreation with the patch from Meta and everything working Why? i dont know but i am sur this function was not working after the last corel ptch

I have 4.1 and no problems at all. ctr D works or just clicking on the EXPORT text in the editor works. I exported a terrain in .obj format just fine.

Doom Dancer ( ) posted Fri, 23 March 2001 at 8:10 AM

Ummmm....I seem to have the same issue as ookami does. In trying EVERY way listed here I can only seem to export in .RF .DEM and .PGM files....all of which are worthless to me.

Just for you folks who have difficulty exporting in dxf format. It works for me on a PC. Athelon 550. Bryce 4.1. I'm having trouble with the ftp uploading one of the images, and will work on that, however, you get the idea. Look for the export tut at the bottom. http://www.annsartgallery.com/ericwebs.html or go direct to: http://www.annsartgallery.com/export.html

go to http://www.brycetech.com and go to the downloads link....there's a patch library there. I've used every patch thats been realeased.....no problems her either...

Goldfire ( ) posted Fri, 25 May 2001 at 6:24 PM

I'm a bryce nubie and have been having the same problem; when I select a terrain and then go to 'export object' on either the filebar or in the terrain lab it says "one of the library files cannot be found" and then asks me for something called an *.ht" file. I made a simple setting for my poser characters but since I am still having trouble with the Materials Lab and importing Poser characters I want to send its components (terrains) over to Poser and reassemble them there till I figure out what is going ON!!!! in Bryce's doubtless wonderful, but incredibly complex, materials lab. I'll check out the links mentioned on this page, maybe they'll help...meanwhile, might as well get extra bang for my buck and put the sceene I composed on the Bryce forum....look for 'The Bathing Pool' over in the gallery. And if you don't mind nudes, check out the male pinup by the same name in the poser gallery.... Goldfire
